Chapter 8 - Gates

"So I basically couldn't control myself and completely abandoned my plan of drinking only enough to heal myself when I tasted your blood," Antoinette said as she looked at Noah who was silently listening.

Slowly, the memories returned and he started recalling what happened the night he was drunk.

"So you drained me completely of blood?" Noah asked, "is that why I became a vampire?"

He was sure that was not how it usually went in movies or novels, there almost always was some type of ritual to turn someone, else the world would be crawling with vampires.

"No," Ette placed a hand on her chin, thinking for a short while, "I did try draining you completely of your blood, which would kill you, but something went wrong."

With how casually she spoke, you'd think that she wasn't speaking about draining the life out of him.

He wanted to ask what went wrong, when the memories slowly filled his mind.

***

Complete darkness, that was where Noah was floating through right now. The surrounding was neither cold nor warm, and there was not a single glow of light.

Noah tried moving around the dark void only to find out that he couldn't.

"Am I dead?" Was what he said....or at least wanted to, but it seemed he had also been denied the speech feature just as he had been the movement one.

But the strangest part was the fact that his thoughts were still active, if he really was dead wouldn't he just....fade away?

Or maybe, this was Hell...as religious people call it?

Noah guessed Hell because he had never been religious, so if those places happen to be real, he was a hundred percent sure he was going to the firey pit....

Speaking of which, this place couldn't be Hell right? After all, there were no flames around or any demon guards drowning him in said flames.

This place was just completely empty, with nothing around to see.

Time lost all meaning there.

Seconds could have been hours, hours could have been days, Noah had no way of telling.

He also felt no hunger nor pain, there was no breath to take or heartbeat to count. He simply existed, suspended in nothingness, his thoughts the only proof that he hadn't completely vanished.

So if this wasn't Hell…

Then what was it?

Just as the question was raised in his mind, a change occured.

A pressure wrapped around him, as if an invisible hand was grabbing hold of his very being.

Before he could even process it, Noah felt himself being yanked towards an unknown direction.

The blackness of the void seem to wrap and stretch but Noah wasn't sure he was even moving, just that the grip held firmly around him.

Well, until te void gave way to an immense, hollow space, vast enough that its edges vanished into shadow.

Noah found himself hovering before something he didn't quite expect to see in a place like this.

Gates.

Dozens of them.

Massive structures, some made of metal, stone, bone, and things he didn't have names for, each one standing tall and ominous in the empty expanse.

Every gate was a different color, radiating its own distinct presence.

Some had wild auras, almost like an animal's, others were serene, some were radiant while others seemed to fade in and out of existence.

Noah didn't know what they were but one thing he was sure of, was that each gate released a pressure that made him feel like an ant.

Far in the distance, towering above the rest stood a golden gate.

It dwarfed every other gate combined, its surface glowing softly yet unbearably bright, as if made from sunlight itself.

Unlike the others, its chains were fewer… but far thicker, each one seemed to tremble faintly, as though struggling to contain what lay beyond.

The aura rolling off it was overwhelming.

Noah didn't know why, but the mere presence of that gate made something deep inside him tremble and demanded he prostrated.

"What is this place…?" he tried to ask, but again, no sound came out.

Before panic could fully set in, a sudden crack echoed through the space.

Noah's attention snapped to a gate much closer to him, it was a crimson-red gate.

This one seemed to be made entirely of blood, with two large fangs acting as some sort of handles.

The chains around it rapidly turned from black to rusted brown and they started crumbling, producing a cracking sound.

The chains fully disintegrated and the moment they did, the gates snapped open, revealing a dark, endless void within.

Before Noah had the chance to ask what was going on, the same force wrapped around him again, pulling him forward without resistance.

Noah felt himself accelerate, the surrounding space blurring as the crimson gate swallowed his vision whole.

The moment he crossed the threshold, the gates slammed shut, effectively trapping him within...or so it seemed.

Noah felt pain assault him from every direction, one a lot worse than when that stranger bit him.

It felt as his if body(?) was being destroyed and remade down to the smallest cell.

He wanted to scream but couldn't, so he could only struggle for a long while before suddenly,

His heart stopped.

***

Noah's eyes snapped open, the large moon coming into view again.

But instead of his previous grey ones, they were now glowing red. He wasn't even given the to gasp before reality hit him all at once.

The stranger still clung to his neck, draining him of his blood, to the point that he was now just had his pale skin clinging to his bones..

But instead of trying to pull back, Noah felt his teeth extended and without his command, his head moved and the next second, his teeth sunk into the stranger's neck.

Her reaction was surprise and her eyes wide, but still, she didn't let go of his neck.

She was too greedy to have this delicious blood escape her lips.

Noah felt her blood in his mouth, and although he understood nothing of what was going on, he didn't stop, as he felt a violent surge of power rushed through his body.

He could feel his body fill up again and his muscles felt a lot denser than what they previously were.

Where her bite had been draining him, his did the opposite, his body latched on, instinctively pulling in something ancient and potent.

Antoinette gasped, her grip on him tightening reflexively.

"—?!"

Her legs trembled a bit as she felt a suspicious liquid flowed down it.

For the first time since she'd attacked him, she was the one caught off guard.

"Wait—!" she tried to pull back, but her body refused to obey and it seemed to want more of him.

"Ahn~"

She let out a moans as he switched their position with surprising strength and had her to the wall.

Noah felt a small metaphorical thread wrap around his heart and for some reason, the moment that happened, he could feel what this stranger was currently feeling.

She was in some sort of ectasy and he could feel her getting....aroused?

His thoughts fractured, struggling to make sense of what he was feeling, of what she was feeling, but his mind simply couldn't keep up.

Slowly, the edges of his vision darkened again as his grip on her slowly loosened and a few seconds later,

Noah passed out.
