Chapter 4 - The Big Three

(Pov Third)

In the world of Jujutsu, the power structure is divided between many clans, but of them, only three can lay claim to the title of strongest. At the top of the ladder lie the higher-ups, the leaders chosen to oversee the world of Jujutsu on behalf of the Japanese government, led by an inspector general chosen by the prime minister. They, along with the big three clans, control most of the world of jujutsu, establishing the Jujutsu Regulations, a set of guiding rules about the duty of sorcerers to protect the average citizens. In reality, it's an organization full of old, corrupt clan members who threaten and oppose anything that may challenge their own power.

Below the headquarters lie the big three clans of Jujutsu society, from which the higher-ups are chosen.

The Gojo clan is known for their inherited technique, Limitless, and every few hundred or so years, they manage to have a member with the Six Eyes as well. During these times, they dominate the other two as there are almost none with the ability to contend with an awakened Six Eyes and Limitless user. Due to this, the ideas regarding fate in the world of Jujutsu have a heavy impact on the Gojo clan, leading to an almost passive nature in the times without a Six Eyes user.

The Zenin clan is known for two inherited techniques, the Ten Shadows and Projection Sorcery. They represent the primary opponent to the Gojo clan, especially the users of the Ten Shadows, as there was one notable case of a Zenin Ten Shadows user using the final Shikigami of the technique to kill a Six Eyes and Limitless user. Projection sorcery also allows its user to attain incredible speed during combat. The Zenin believe only in strength gained through powerful techniques and, as a result, are one of the most militarized clans with three units: the Hei, made up of those with powerful techniques, the Kukuru, who have no technique but still have cursed energy, and the Akashi, those with a technique not considered strong enough for the Hei.

The third clan of the big three is the Kamo clan, who have the Blood Manipulation technique. They were also known to be the most conservative clan among the Big Three, and despite being among the Big Three, they weren't on the same level as the other two clans. This is due in part to the man known as the most evil sorcerer of all time, Kamo Noritoshi, who experimented on a woman to produce half human half cursed spirit creations known as the death paintings, and the clan has yet to fully remove the stain left by Noritoshi one hundred and fifty years ago.

Despite this, for the first time in decades, the clans would all be gathering for a large-scale meeting meant to discuss the future of the Jujutsu world. In actuality, it was suggested by the Gojo clan head and the Zenin clan head to show off their own strength and influence. This would be the time for the Gojo to show they had been blessed by the Six Eyes, while the Zenin thought they had been strengthened with two sorcerers with a powerful inherited technique.

(Pov Satoshi)

It had been a few months since I had discovered my Heavenly Restriction, and I had been training alongside Satoru. I knew I had gotten lucky at least in terms of my restriction, as if I had been born like Maki would be, I wouldn't get the full benefits, but with absolutely zero cursed energy, my own senses and even my strength, along with reflexes, would be beyond what many could achieve even using cursed energy to enhance themselves. Most people didn't know this, as the Heavenly Restriction was considered a curse on whoever had been afflicted, especially as for many of them it wasn't complete, leaving some cursed energy behind, leaving them in the worst of both worlds, with not enough energy to do anything but not much stronger than your average person.

As such, after learning this, Satoru got even more protective and worried about certain clan members who saw my existence as a curse or stain on the clan as a whole, and even from outside sources as well. Despite still being young, Satoru already had a massive bounty due to his strength, even before he had been officially revealed; the world knew the Six Eyes had returned. As the younger brother of the Six Eyes user, there had been some worry about me being targeted to get to Satoru, an idea which I had shamelessly used to convince him to help me get stronger alongside him.

It was a day like any other when, during training, Uncle Toshino approached us.

"Satoru-Sama, Satoshi-Sama, there is going to be a gathering soon; the other major clans will be arriving tomorrow at noon," he said. "You will both be expected to appear, but don't worry, I hear that the Zenin clan has someone near your age who will be joining them. I'm sure you'll be great friends."

'A gathering? I don't remember that being mentioned, but then again, Gege would gloss over things.' I could only think of one thing from the series when a young Satoru became the first person to notice Toji standing behind him, which meant soon I'd be face-to-face with the man who allowed for most of the events of the story to happen.

His killing of Riko would not only prevent Tengen from renewing but also send Geto Suguru down his path of extremism, resulting in his death and then his body being stolen by Kenjaku who would use it to enact his ultimate plan which would end with Satoru dead along with many others who would fall during the fights against Kenjaku and Sukuna not to mention the death toll among the citizens from Sukuna's later fights against Jogo and Mahoraga during the Shibuya incident.

Later that day, after we had finished training, Satoru and I began the short walk to our room when I heard a slight shift of gravel coming from behind. I dismissed it at first, thinking it was another clan member, but thinking on it more, I realized the sound was too soft, and I couldn't recognize who it was, like usual. I knew then who had shown up, and Satoru recognized the presence at the same time. Turning around, I saw the man I had been thinking of, Fushiguro Toji, currently still a Zenin, standing about a dozen feet away. He seemed shocked at having been noticed, which was understandable, as from what I remembered of the original, this would have been the first time someone noticed him.

For me, though it was an even greater shock, I had thought that my senses were already increased enough to help keep me safe, but I hadn't even noticed him until he was already this close, and even then, just barely. Would I have to fight this guy in the future? Before I could wonder anymore, Toji turned and left, and Satoru lost interest, so I had no choice but to return to the room and prepare for the other clans arriving tomorrow.

(Pov Satoru)

Uncle Toshi had helped us get ready for this big gathering thing. I didn't know much, but at least we wouldn't have to be there long, just long enough for the elders to show me off to the other clans. I had wanted to have Satoshi with me, but the elders made a big deal about not having him in the spotlight. I had wanted to argue, but both he and Satoshi just wanted to get this over with.

We were waiting in the main courtyard for the members of the other clans to arrive. The idea was I'd make my appearance and talk with the other clan heads, then I could leave, and supposedly the Zenin clan had a kid around me and Satoshi's age, though some of the elders warned not get attached to the enemy or something.

As the gates opened, I could see the other clan heads approaching with their entourage members following closely behind. The elders had drilled the names of the other clan heads so they couldn't accuse me of being disrespectful, as if any of this would matter.

'They say I'm the strongest, and what's the point of being strong if I have to care about this boring stuff?' My mind was wandering, but I didn't have long to think about the two other clan heads, who were already talking.

Telling them apart wasn't hard on one side, there was Zenin Naobito current head of the Zenin clan, who had taken over after his father, Zenin Naohiro Died. On the other side was the current head of the Kamo clan, Kamo Okubo. He looked old and had already been clan head for a few years at this point. The introductions didn't last long; at least, I only had to greet them before they began talking amongst themselves, though Naobito spoke up soon after.

"Oh yeah, almost forgot, Naoya, get over here and say hello," he called, and a boy around my age walked over from the larger group of Zenin members.

The boy, Naoya, had an arrogant smile on his face. I wasn't very interested in knowing him, but maybe he and Satoshi could be friends. So without a word, I led him from the main courtyard to the side area, where Satoshi and Uncle Toshi were waiting.
