Chapter 31 - Chapter 22: Chronicles of Mary

It was about 7 years ago when it happened. The horrifying day, the day the world collected its natural resources back. The day my parents died. During that time I didn't know nor yet understand the excruciating term death or its meaning. I had only come to understand the meaning; when I was 11 years old. A year prior to when the accident happened, then for some reason I woke up here. With a completely different body entirely.

When I was about 8 years old, Mr Amakawa, the father of my big brother took me in. They fed me, cared for me, taught me, and even took me on fancy vacations. Big brother was the kindest soul I have seen.

Big Brother, Rial.

I wonder, was he also reincarnated too. I have no idea but I intend to find him if he is here?

Then what if he is happy with his new family, will he extend his hands or shut them at me. After all I am not a human anymore. The body I reincarnated in was a little elf girl Eva. It seems after I was reborn in her body, our memories merged into one, but I gained the consciousness of her soul.

Due to this I was smarter than my peers around me, even though I am still a middle school child. This is caused due to no education in this prison cell. The owner didn't want his slaves to be more knowledgeable than him. So, the no education was upheld.

Big brother-Rial, was the first person to trust in me and taught me basic martial arts I would need in the future.

I guess this is enough reminiscing about the past. I need to focus on planning my escape route.

"What are you doing." A guard that usually walks around the cells asked.

"I am just laying paper, is something wrong?"

"Not exactly. I just thought that you were planning an escape." He said.

"Even if I thought of it, we all know I wouldn't escape the hands of you guys."I said.

And though that is technically true, there is a crucial way for an escape to happen. Which is the air vent that leads the kitchen. Then I could follow the pipe down the basement. After that I would be free from this hell.

But first let me do something out of the place for a bit. I smiled in the depth of my head then with a falling motion, I touched his raw skin. I accidentally made contact with a guard. Well! there was what I wanted him to think.

"Sorry I was a little clumsy." I said while looking at him with the dead eye the trauma here gave me.

"Your eyes look dead, Huh! This is what you get from being a different kind other than humans.

"Sure,"

He walked away. Using my enhanced perception, which has been filled up with sage arts. Using these arts I was able to track the visible contact we made during that accident. During that accident I filled my fingers with charkra, but just as I made contact I split it apart on his hand. I did that because I could be a chance of him washing his hand after he left, so I had spread it to many places. But lucky he didn't wash himself since he still had duties.

He first walked through the hall, which was huge, filled with empty chairs, and tables. The balcony also would provide a beautiful view of the night sky when the stars are shown brightening up. He walked to the kitchen, My main target.

The kitchen was something that was to be expected by a noble house hood. The box cooler was huge, the chairs, folks, spoons everything was well organised. And from the top fiance, the air vent above him was the same one connected to mine.

Even though I have the capabilities to escape by myself, I chose not to. Because I still had to help my friends that I met here. So-sorry big bro, we have to wait a bit until we can see each. But even if I am just imagining if you are here with me, the hope within my heart will never fade.

Rio's perspective:

"So. What did you come here for, Nanase." I said gracefully to her.

"Don't get the feeling about them." She asked.

"If you say them. You met Rial and Lily huh?"

"Yes, surprisingly."Said Nanase.

"What makes you say so?" I asked. Nanase isn't the person who would jump to conclusions without proper insight on the matter. So her saying this means that Rial is more than he let on.

"Their behaviour is just like ours, their ability to read situation and think sharply isn't a trait from this world. Well maybe some people like Max, Eigi, Tsubaki, Arisu and Rui can make the cut. But except for them there are no humans here that have the traits." She explained. It made a really convincing argument, but watch me dismantle her accusations.

"Well, it would be that someone from that place also taught them the same manners and academic abilities." I said.

"No. The way they represent themselves is too natural for it to be a studied matter." Nanase who didn't know anything about Rial until now was analyzing him like a book.

"Hey, even if what you say is true. What benefits will it bring to us, in fact they could say they had a horrible life. So I think we should just watch them." I said.

"Yeah. You're right. I am overreacting to it." She finally calmed down and started walking toward the dorms.

I have been watching Rial ever since he enrolled in the school. And I have to say he was talented. Even more than Max and Rui. He had martial arts, sword play, magic abilities, and a special eye. He is what you can call a complete man with everything in his hands. And yet he chooses to watch from the sides, then does everything in the shadows.

It happened during the Eigi incident, then the queen's downfall was also done by hid hands. The sudden growth of class D was also caused by him. But what does that mean to my class. If he is choosing to help them then that means I just get ready to handle them.

Wait! Can I cross blades with him? Do I even stand a chance against him?

Of course I do. I am the great Rio after all, no matter how great you are if you face the great the Rio. You are sure to lose.

Not even Max stands a chance against me. But he does act when it is the most unexpected time, so I should be careful.

Rial's perspective:

300 days left, until I go, so around 9 months and 27 days until the mission begins. But I wonder what name I should call her?

Younger sister, sweet little sister, honey girl. No that is a bit extreme for me, but anyways I must wait first. Patience builds character after all.
