Chapter 35 - Chapter 35 Temptation Resisted

Dorian's POV

My chest tightened as Elena bolted from the house, tears streaming down her face.

I pushed myself upright, moving to intercept her path.

She slammed into me, her body shaking violently. "I need to get out of here."

I smoothed my palm across her back, trying to steady her nerves. "Elena..."

Looking into her eyes, I saw something that surprised me—these weren't tears of sorrow, but fury.

Minnie burst through the door behind us, her voice barely above a whisper. "Elena, just let me explain!"

I blinked, thrown off guard. Minnie appeared perfectly composed; no trace of distress anywhere. Then understanding crashed over me and I scowled.

Elena turned away from her, brushing the moisture from her cheeks. She fixed her gaze on me, her expression hardening. "I want out of here. Dorian, please."

Something fluttered in my chest as I yanked the car door open.

She'd used my first name—but only because rage had stripped away her usual politeness.
