Chapter 1 - One

I may be not a real princess, but at least I know that I am born to be one and I would never forsake my own happiness just to keep pleasing everyone who had me begging for their attention, I, at least knew better.

--

I was busy preparing for dinner when I heard my husband's car parked on our garage. He got a lot of cars, yes, but I was sure it was what he took earlier when he left for his 'office'.

I knew he had something good going with Lila already but I could care less, the only thing I am wishing for now, is for Giovanni to officially cut off ties with me, to divorce me.

I mean, we're nothing but married on paper, so I am sure that it won't harm him to do so, in fact, I am more than sure that my parents would 'gladly' accept this debauchery of them, not only that their 'adopted princess ' would be happy in getting him from me, but they would receive another dowry from Gio.

I was still muttering to myself when they entered the house, hand-in-hand obviously showing off, but instead of showing I don't care, all I flashed them a jealous and seemingly bitter face.

Of course, Lila took advantage of that, clinging like some leech to Gio, her face laced with uttered pretending.

"Ah! I'm sorry, I shouldn't have been too insensitive and went in Gio. I forgot my big sister was 'still' your wife." She muttered, her eyes watering with tears, obviously feigning it.

Seeing her all teary-eyed, of course, Gio, who was her current 'knight and shining armor' attended to her with uttered gentleness, cooing her.

But when it comes to me, he glared, his nose smoking in uttered rage. "Ashanti! Stop making that face! You're making her cry! Just what kind of big sister are you to be bullying your own sister!" Gio scolded me and I feigned a trembling gasp.

I was looking straight to Lila's face as Gio reprimanded me for 'bullying' her, and I caught the satisfied smirk on her lips, while I let myself look so low, but as the ever two-faced snake she is, the moment Gio looks at down at her, it shifts to the innocent and nice face.

"Just don't mind her, okay? let's get you rested in my bed." Gio muttered to her, already leading her to our supposed marital bed.

With a shy nod to Gio, she discreetly flashed me a smirk and to make her think that she is indeed winning, I looked down and look away and the moment they're both out of my sight, I grinned and pulled out my phone, screen recording but not watching another scene of their debauchery to be unfolded through the secret cameras I had installed.

"Oh god, I never thought gathering evidences like this would be too easy." I told myself, as I silently ate my dinner, alone.

I was in my total peaceful moment when suddenly, I heard another car parked at our driveway, but as Gio didn't mentioned that he was expecting someone to come, I knew I had to check on who it was.

With a sigh, I stood up and went straight for the main door, but as I was about to open it, the door just busted open, making it hit me and fall to the floor.

"Ouch!" I groaned, soothing my scraped arm and elbow at the sudden fall.

Then a big hand reached out for me. "Ah! I'm sorry, miss. I didn't know someone is standing behind the door!" It apologizes real quick as it help me stand, making me lift my head to look on who could it be.

And right in instant, my eyes widen. "Ash/ Lix?" We muttered at the same time.

Standing before me was an secret ex of mine, back in my highschool days, Callix Thorne and the names we had just muttered are our nicknames to one another back then.

It was roughly a decade after that and of course, there were alot of obvious changes with us physically, but there was something that didn't changed, our innate closeness and chemistry.

He was already almost 6 foot tall on our highschool days and with time, he get even more taller that I really had to look up now just to speak with him.

His chocolate brown hair now more looking decent as it was cut short, his prominent caucasian facial features now even highlighting more of his grey eyes.

I was still busy thinking about the comparisons I can see in him now, when he suddenly snapped his fingers on me.

"Hello? Earth to Ashanti?" He called out, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Ah, yes? So sorry, about that! Why are you here?" I asked, trying to sound casual.

Then Callix's face turned sour. "I'm here for my bastard, half big brother. My mom called me, saying that he just wasted a big investor." He growled.

But as his words registered in my head, I looked up to him. "Big brother? I-I don't think I ever had heard him mentioning about a little brother..." I murmured, confused.

"Of course he won't, we're just half-brothers after all, he was my father's child to its' mistress!" Callix groaned, clicking his tongue at the process, then looked he at me his eyes softening. "But why are you here? I don't think he ever mentioned dating someone." He asked, obviously baffled.

"W-well, I am technically his wife of five years now." I muttered hesitantly.

He gasped at my confession, utterly shocked. "Five years already? but isn't it actually weird that we haven't crossed path before! W-we're you just staying in this house for that five years?" Callix asked, his tone laced with something I couldn't decipher.

Laughing awkwardly, I nodded. "My parents told him that I won't be working once we got married, so yeah, you can say I am just a homemaker." I mumbled shyly, as I never planned to be one.

With that, he growled even harder. "That bastard! Where the hell is he!" He scowled, easily walking past me, but I stopped him with all my might.

"N-no, please no. H-he's with someone else. You can't go in!" I plead, but somehow, it got him even angrier and before I knew it, he kicked the door open, revealing my husband, doing my pretentious adopted sister.
