Chapter 8 - The four bases of humanity

"Right, let's get started."

Sammy said while picking up some nuts and stuffing it in his mouth as he was quite hungry.

"They are basically areas where humans live and are protected by other humans. The five bases also deal with different kinds of threats and that's basically what the bases are but now lets get into detail.

In Europe there is a very large base that is ruled by a single person who is there supposed *king* although he is more of a tyrant. It has vast technology and heavily uses steam.

The monsters there are called shadows and they are quite different from the zombies as one touch from them and you become a shadow but they have a major flaw which is light so the ruler there built a large dome around them that produces enough light to make sure there are no monsters in his kingdom."

He then got up and asked Kensei to follow him and so he did and after following Sammy he arrived at a pond. The pond seemed to have good and clean water which Sammy drank from.

"In Antarctica, there's not really much people as there's only about 58 people there and the only reason they haven't left they're base yet was because there's too many monsters made of snow and ice there. Although the European base has been trying to reach out to them."

'Not that important in the story anyway'

"Now for the third base in North America, in that place there's quite a lot of people that are protected by... lets just say, a skeleton dude yeah, they are protected by a horse riding skeleton dude and they don't really have much resources although they are getting by."

"Now for the last place, the fourth base the one in Korea, it has got a lot of resources and is doing very well, not as good as the European base but still very good and has 5 leaders who are in charge of different things. The first one is the farming leader. The second one is the Scavanging leader. The third one is the hunting leader. The fourth one is the experimenting leader. The fifth one is the mechanical leader. Although they are usually called by their names rather than this."

After that long talk Sammy got up and Kensei started following him again.

"So did you get every single fruit in this entire area in that sac or not?"

"I made sure to get every single fruit in that sac as you said and I used my knowledge to pick out the ones that last long."

"Good and i hope that, where ever you got that sac from that its of good quality other wise the food my rot very fast anyways it will take us like approximately two days at best to go to Korea so let's get started on the journey."

After a while of walking through corrupted buildings and hurdles of zombies, slowly navigating through the hurdles they had managed to finally managed to get away from all of them and Kensei was able to properly form his "blood bike" and after forming it they both got on the blood and after a while of riding and "shortcuts" they had managed to get to the ocean.

"Well what do you think?" Sammy asked as this was Kensei's first time seeing the ocean or any sort of water in the ground other than blood or a pond.

"Its quite nice and calming." He said as he took in a sip of air and relaxed against its breeze

A moment of calmness had settled in, the evening making it a bit better which ever slightly changed Sammy's opinion about the evening.

"Well from now on we will have to go on a boat and I'm guessing you don't know how to make one with your blood or even know how it works." He said with no emotion or thought behind.

"You're right." Said Kensei as he waited for orders.

"Well then that's good because if we relied on the blood boat we would be dead due to the creatures under the sea." Saying this got Kensei in a daze as he thought of a reason and for a second his thoughts were read by the narrator.

'Is there monsters that could smell my blood? If I get stronger will I be able to control its scent? What creatures lie in the seas and oceans ? Can I defeat them? Maybe not because of the terrain'

In his mind there were several thoughts questioning everything yet he spoke with just a single word.

"Okay."

'Seriously what goes inside this guy's head!?' Sammy said having no clue about Kensei's thoughts.

As the waves rose and fell, the evening star and the sun began its descent towards the water's ends, by seeing this Sammy spoke with a hint of disappointment "it seems we will have to take a break for now... and tomorrow we will build a boat to go on the sea. What do you think?"

Kensei's thoughts begin roaming around again and thoughts such as 'how good should the boat be? How long will it take to build one? How can I help? What should I do? Does Mr.prophet know how to build a boat?'

"Good." saying that made Sammy give up on trying to understand him even though he read an entire book about his journey after all Sammy didn't see him as a tool but a friend and friends should be able to understand each other.

Sammy told Kensei to follow him and the duo headed towards a building where they could hide from the monsters and after finding the perfect place they both settled in lying down comfortably on concrete.

"In the morning when you wake up, call me and also get some new fruits from the nearby area. We will need more food and after that I'll guide you to a library and you can pick some books that you want to read on our way to Korea."

Kensei simply nodded and went to sleep.

'Guess it's time to read' with that thought Sammy began reading side stories.
