Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: The Hunt for the Killer

"His parents had come to find them, hoping their family would come to apologize to Beatrice, to spare their family. But knocking on the door yielded no response, so they used a spare key to open the door. Upon entering the room, they saw the bodies of three people. One of the elderly fainted on the spot, and it was only when a neighbor nearby heard the commotion and came out to discover the murder that the police were called."

After Ch'en Huijie finished speaking, she glanced at Beatrice, who turned her head and glared back.

"Those kinds of people are dead and gone, who would grieve for them!"

Seeing the two about to argue again, Hoshiguma spoke up. "We're almost there. In a moment, Old Ch'en and Missy, you follow Flandre. I'm afraid if we just go up like this, it might cause some conflict," Hoshiguma reminded the two.

"Conflict? Are there enemies? Flandre can help kill them!" Flandre Scarlet raised her hand with an excited smile.

"That's not allowed!" Beatrice hugged Flandre Scarlet, indicating that killing is wrong.

"Okay." Not knowing what else she could do besides killing, Flandre Scarlet could only look regretful.

Soon, the three arrived at the crime scene. Hoshiguma, who got out of the car first, took a special triangular shield from the trunk. "I'll go first. Missy, you hold onto Flandre. Old Ch'en, I'll leave the rear to you!" After saying this, Hoshiguma took the lead and walked forward.

This area had been sealed off by the Lungmen Guard Department, but since it was a residential passageway, people still came and went. When they saw the Guard Department personnel approaching, they thought they were here to investigate and collect evidence. Upon seeing Flandre Scarlet behind Hoshiguma, someone's eyes turned fierce.

"It's her, it's this little bastard who killed my daughter's family!"

Hearing someone curse her, Flandre Scarlet looked up at Beatrice. Before she could speak, she saw Beatrice slap the person.

"Who the hell are you cursing!"

That person thought Flandre Scarlet was a prisoner being held by the Guard Department since she was being led by them, but didn't expect the Guard Department personnel not only to not help control the damn Blood Demon but instead slapped them back, leaving them stunned on the spot. Including the others behind them.

"You dare hit me?" the person stammered, pointing at Beatrice.

"Remember, Old Hag, the person who hit you is Beatrice Swire. Don't get the name wrong when you report it to the Guard Department." Beatrice indicated that if you dare act arrogant after I hit you, if I hadn't held back Flandre Scarlet, your life would be in danger.

"I'll sue you, I'll sue you until you're bankrupt..." The woman still wanted to rush over and scratch Beatrice, but was blocked outside by Hoshiguma's shield.

"The Guard Department is handling a case. If you continue to obstruct traffic and cause trouble unreasonably, I will arrest you for obstructing official duties." After Hoshiguma's cold gaze swept over the crowd, those who had been somewhat blinded by anger quickly calmed down, grabbing the woman and dragging her aside.

"Let's go!" Hoshiguma slammed the shield heavily on the ground, then lifted it and walked toward the crime scene. At this moment, several Operators from the Guard Department were conducting investigations. Seeing Hoshiguma approach, they nodded to her. "Senior Hoshiguma!"

But upon seeing Flandre Scarlet among the four, their faces showed difficulty. "Senior Ch'en, this doesn't comply with regulations, does it?" An Old Officer who knew about Ch'en's identity looked at Ch'en Huijie, who had just entered last, and spoke up.

"What doesn't comply with regulations? Flandre Scarlet is a special invitee of the Major Crimes Unit personally arranged by Governor Wei. Bringing her for investigation when we have doubts about the case is part of the standard procedure." Ch'en Huijie's words temporarily settled the matter.

"Sister Beatrice, you're holding too tight, it's inconvenient for me to examine!" Flandre Scarlet turned to look at Beatrice. Beatrice then loosened her grip. "Then be careful yourself!"

Flandre Scarlet nodded and walked over to the Forensic Doctor examining the bodies. Upon looking, it was an old acquaintance—the person who had moved the bodies earlier. Seeing Flandre Scarlet, the other party wasn't afraid but nodded. "Come take a look and see if there are any issues!"

After following him to examine the three bodies, Flandre Scarlet confirmed her earlier speculation. "The killer indeed has Originium Arts that can drain people's blood, and the three showed no struggle or cries until death. There are only two possibilities: first, the process happened in an instant, so they had no time to cry out. Second, they were unable to resist during the entire process."

"The first one should be impossible. After all, if they could drain three people's blood in an instant, the killer wouldn't have left so many wounds on the victims. So, you mean they were unconscious or even already dead when being drained?" Hoshiguma asked.

Flandre Scarlet nodded. "Exactly, that's what I think too. But there's no blood here, so I can't determine their exact condition at the time. However, I confirmed one more thing: he definitely wasn't hungry!"

Hearing Flandre Scarlet's words, the Operators in the room looked over.

"If the perpetrator was a Blood Demon and sucking blood was to satisfy hunger, he wouldn't need to make so many small wounds; it doesn't fit the mindset of eating. And if blood was flowing all over the body, how would he eat? Licking along the victim's entire body?" After hearing Flandre's words, everyone thought of that image and couldn't help but feel a chill.

After checking other places, Flandre followed the Guard Department personnel out the door. Outside, the woman wanted to say something upon seeing Flandre Scarlet, but was held back by someone beside her. Only Beatrice looked at the woman. "Remember, my name is Beatrice Swire. I'm curious how you'll make me go bankrupt. I'm waiting!"

As she looked on in terror, the woman realized this was the granddaughter of the current head of the Swire Family. The Guard Department Operators closed the door, sealed it, and left the area together.

"Next, I'll take you back," Beatrice said. Flandre Scarlet shook her head. "No hurry, let's get in the car first!" Then she got back into Hoshiguma's car. Seeing this, the others also got in. Beatrice wanted to say something, but Flandre Scarlet suddenly spoke up.

"Tonight at two o'clock, Lungmen Outer Ring, Second Cemetery."

Hearing her words, the three sat up straight. "Information left by that Blood Demon?" Ch'en Huijie said solemnly.

"Yes, a very simple type of curse, integrated into the bodies of the deceased. Only when trying to investigate with blood can traces of it be found. But it's used very crudely, far worse than what Patchy taught me," Flandre Scarlet said with a look of disdain. "So, Flandre hopes we all go together to catch the bad guy directly!"

Flandre Scarlet smiled happily and nodded. "Yes, yes! Flandre wants to see who did these things and dared to frame Flandre for it."

Hoshiguma glanced at Ch'en Huijie, who also nodded. "Since the other party gave a message, if too many people go, we might be discovered. Just the four of us will do, and it'll be easier to hide then."

Hoshiguma stepped on the gas, and the vehicle left the Guard Department convoy. "Where are they going?" someone asked.

"Why bother about them? With Officer Hoshiguma there, she'll keep those two young ladies from causing any trouble." Thinking of Hoshiguma's reliability, everyone quickly calmed down.

The convoy soon arrived at the Port entrance. Although the Second Cemetery is in the Lungmen Outer Ring, it's actually in the suburbs. As they left the Port, Wei Yenwu's figure appeared. He looked at the intelligence from the Black Cloak Shadow Guards.

"It seems this little Blood Demon friend has also discovered her kin. So, what choice will she make?"

Under his arrangement, a team of Shadow Guards followed Flandre's group toward the Cemetery. By the time the vehicle arrived, it was almost midnight.

"Ugh, it's pitch black here, really scary." Beatrice looked at the darkness, her tail curling up. "The time given by the other party is two in the morning. Isn't it too early to come now? Huh, there's a light at the entrance, probably the Gravedigger. Let's approach!"

Hoshiguma drove closer. "Who is it, coming to the Cemetery at night, risking your life!" The door of the Guard Room opened, and an old man in his sixties stumbled out, cursing.

"Sorry, Uncle, we have a friend buried here. After drinking a few sips, we all miss her, so we came to visit. Could you open the gate for us? We'll offer a toast and leave!" Hoshiguma leaned out and said with a naive expression.

"You say you have a friend, so you have a friend? Don't think I don't know, you young girls like to play all sorts of messy dares. No reception at night."

Beatrice jumped out of the car. "You old man, what's wrong with letting us in once? I'll pay!"
