Chapter 18 - The Weird Secret Realm

"By the way, Kael, have you decided what your second Pokémon will be?" Riven asked casually.

"I've already chosen," Kael replied. "I got a Shinx egg from a mid-level secret realm this time."

"Shinx, huh? Its final evolution is really cool."

Kael and Riven chatted back and forth. When the topic turned to Shinx, both of their eyes lit up.

"It's… alright," Kael said modestly.

"Tch… yeah right." Riven snorted in displeasure.

In truth, Riven also wanted a Shinx. After all, strength was temporary—but looking cool was for life. If he had a handsome Pokémon, would Xiao Qi finally agree to go on a date with him?

As he thought about this, Riven's expression gradually became downright lecherous. One look and you could tell he was thinking about something very inappropriate.

Kael and Lyra exchanged looks, both seeing the same helplessness in each other's eyes. If they didn't know Riven so well, anyone else would probably think he was some kind of pervert.

"Riven! Riven! Stop daydreaming already—your drool is about to fall!" Kael finally couldn't take it anymore and shouted at him.

"Huh? No way, how could I be drooling…" Riven hurriedly wiped the corner of his mouth while arguing back.

But once he realized what had happened, his expression darkened.

"Kael, you tricked me again!"

"Tch, that's what you get for looking so creepy. And watch yourself—my little sister is right here. Don't pollute her eyes," Kael snorted, completely unfazed by Riven's annoyance.

The two were close friends anyway—mutually messing with each other was nothing unusual.

Lyra's big, bright eyes curved into crescent moons as she laughed.

Riven flashed an embarrassed look, though it disappeared quickly. He then laughed it off.

"What's the big deal? Your sister is my sister too. What's there to be embarrassed about in front of family?"

"Right, Lyra?"

"Heehee, Riven-ge is always right," Lyra giggled.

"Fine, fine, you're always right," Kael said perfunctorily. Then he turned to Lyra.

"Lyra, take Corviknight and Ursaring to buy them something to eat. I need to talk to Riven about something."

Lyra didn't ask any questions. She simply led the two massive Pokémon away.

People nearby stared in amazement at the sight of such a petite girl walking ahead, followed by a ferocious bird and a towering beast.

It was practically beauty and beasts incarnate.

Once Lyra had left, Riven asked curiously, "Kael, what's so important that you had to send Lyra away?"

"I just don't want her to worry too much," Kael said calmly. "I'm planning to enter a Weird Secret Realm in about a month."

"A Weird Secret Realm?!" Riven exclaimed. "The one that appeared a few years ago? Didn't the authorities say it wasn't open yet? They said it's extremely dangerous—full of demons and ghosts!"

Riven knew about the Weird Secret Realms. Only Elite-level Trainers could access that information on the official Trainer website.

He'd learned that besides Pokémon Secret Realms, there were actually Weird Secret Realms as well.

According to official data, those realms showed no traces of Pokémon at all.

Moreover, there was speculation that the "weird phenomena" in the main world might have come from those realms—just like demonized Pokémon.

"It's open now," Kael replied, giving him a look. "Didn't you see the latest announcement on the official site?"

He took out his phone, logged into the Pokémon Trainer website, and handed it over.

Riven took the phone curiously and began reading.

The more he read, the more shocked he became. His eyes widened so much they looked like they were about to pop out.

After a while, he said in disbelief,

"There are actually humans in that Weird Secret Realm? Cultivation techniques? Different countries? That's basically another world! How is that still considered a 'secret realm'?!"

"That's exactly why I want to check it out," Kael replied. "And I can earn some ghost crystals while I'm there—exchange them for resources to strengthen Corviknight."

Of course, Kael didn't say everything.

The real reason he wanted to enter was to confirm whether that world matched what he suspected.

From the official information, he'd seen some very familiar names—Lin Jiu of Maoshan, Simu, and others.

Those names were unforgettable to him. They were idols from his childhood.

He needed to see it with his own eyes.

At the same time, he could hunt weird entities and earn system points. Just last night, Corviknight killing those demonized beasts had boosted his points significantly—enough to exchange for two Rare Candies.

That would be enough to push Corviknight up one more level and officially reach Gym-level strength.

Hearing this, Riven's interest was completely piqued.

"Kael, when the time comes, let's go together. A realm that amazing—I want to see it too."

For Trainers, there was never a lack of adventurous spirit.

"That works," Kael agreed readily. "Two people can watch each other's backs. And your strength isn't weak either."

"Riven! There you are! You're injured, stop running around everywhere—we've been looking for you forever!"

A voice full of complaints suddenly rang out behind them.

Both of them turned around.

They saw a petite, cute girl with short hair, wearing a white blouse and a blue plaid skirt.

Beside her stood a tall, elegant girl with delicate features and a graceful figure.

They were none other than Iria and  Skylin.

The moment Riven saw Skylin, his eyes lit up like light bulbs.

He hurried over eagerly.

"Xiao Qi, Iria—what are you two doing here?"

Seeing this, Kael could only rub his forehead helplessly.

Riven's hopeless simping for Skylin really was unchangeable—even in a world like this.

In this merged cinematic world, beautiful girls were everywhere, yet Riven insisted on hanging himself on a single tree.
