Chapter 51 - Chapter 49 midnight prank

Jay's POV – Midnight. Worst idea. Best memory.

Midnight at Lia's house is dangerous.

Not because it's haunted.

Not because it's dark.

But because Section E is awake.

I was half-asleep, curled against Keifer, counting his breaths like it was the safest rhythm in the world, when I heard it.

A whisper.

"Okay… everyone ready?"

My eyes snapped open.

That voice belonged to Felix.

Which meant peace had already left the building.

I slowly lifted my head from Keifer's chest and looked around the room. He was still asleep, one arm wrapped around me, calm and unaware that chaos was loading like a game at 99%.

In my head:

If Section E dies tonight, I did not see anything.

Another whisper, louder this time.

"Mayo, stop breathing like a dying vacuum cleaner."

"I'M EXCITED," Mayo hissed back.

I carefully slid out of bed, tucking the blanket around Keifer like a responsible wife, and cracked the door open.

The hallway.

Oh. My. God.

Felix, Rory, Erdix, Kit, Emman, C In, Eren, Rakki, Calix, Mica, Freya—

ALL of them.

Standing there.

In the dark.

Holding… balloons?

And a bucket?

And—

Is that whipped cream?

"WHAT are you doing?" I mouthed silently.

Felix turned, grinned like a villain.

"Operation Midnight Justice."

"For who?" I whispered.

"For Kuya Angelo."

I blinked.

"…He's asleep."

"Exactly," Rory said proudly.

Inner scream:

These people are not afraid of consequences.

I crossed my arms. "Explain. Quickly. Before I become responsible."

Calix whispered, "Angelo roasted Section E at dinner."

Erdix nodded. "He said we're 'too loud to be taken seriously.'"

Kit added, "So we're proving him right."

Freya sighed. "We tried to stop them."

Mica nodded. "We failed."

Felix held up the bucket. "Water balloons. Harmless."

I pointed at the whipped cream.

"And that?"

Felix smiled wider.

"Emotional damage."

I rubbed my temples.

Jay, you married into this.

Suddenly, a door creaked open behind us.

Keifer.

Hair messy. Shirt loose. Eyes half-open.

"What's happening?" he asked softly.

Everyone froze.

Felix slowly turned.

"…Boss?"

Keifer looked at the group, the balloons, the bucket, then at me.

"Wifey," he said calmly, "should I be worried?"

I smiled sweetly.

"No. Just… disappointed in all of them."

Felix gasped. "JAY—"

Keifer sighed, then surprised everyone by picking up a balloon.

"…Which room is Angelo's?"

The hallway exploded in silent cheers.

We moved like criminals in a movie.

Tiptoeing.

Barefoot.

Terrible coordination.

Eren tripped over nothing.

Rakki caught him.

Felix shushed too loudly.

Angelo's door.

Closed. Silent. Peaceful.

I almost felt bad.

Almost.

Felix counted on his fingers.

Three.

Two—

The door suddenly opened.

Angelo stood there.

Sleepy. Confused. Shirt half-buttoned.

"…Why are all of you in my hallway?"

One second of silence.

Then Mayo screamed, "NOW."

Everything happened at once.

Balloons flew.

Water splashed.

Whipped cream hit Angelo's shoulder.

Angelo yelled.

Lia appeared behind him.

Ion screamed.

Someone slipped.

I stood back, arms crossed, watching chaos bloom like art.

Angelo wiped his face slowly.

"…I hate you all."

Lia burst out laughing.

"Oh my God, you deserved that."

Grace appeared with the baby monitor.

"WHY IS MY HOUSE SCREAMING?"

Baby Grazel Jay started crying.

Everyone froze.

Instant guilt.

Grace stared at the dripping, cream-covered Angelo, then at Section E.

"…Clean. Now."

Silence.

"Yes, ma'am," everyone said together.

Keifer wrapped an arm around me, whispering, "Worth it?"

I leaned into him, smiling softly as Section E scrambled with towels, slipping, arguing, apologizing.

"Yeah," I said.

"Worth every second."

And as midnight chaos settled into quiet laughter and whispered apologies, I realized something—

These were the moments we'd laugh about forever.

The messy ones.

The stupid ones.

The ones that happened when everyone should've been asleep.

And somehow, in all that noise—

I felt perfectly at peace. 💙
