Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: Joining Marketing Department 2

No matter how much they mentally denied it, everyone was waiting with anticipation, hoping for good news.

The entire Perception Department had fallen silent. They could even hear the clear sound of breathing from the person on the floor.

Then, a voice finally came from the speakers. "Xiaomo."

Xiao Xiaomo jumped. "I'm here."

"You guys are... incredible! We caught him! We captured him alive. Do you know what he kept muttering when we nabbed him? 'Impossible. Impossible. How can this be possible? There's no way you guys could do it.' Haha! Nothing's impossible. We just caught him, that's what."

Hearing the voice on the other end, everyone was stunned. They stared at Jiang Zuo as if they had seen a ghost. To be honest, they also thought it was impossible, yet it had actually happened.

"Xiaomo, my Martial Uncle said he wants to treat you all to dinner when we get back. He was so shocked just now he couldn't even speak. He still couldn't believe it. I was the one who personally directed the strikes on those six locations. Haha, I've earned some major credit!"

No, wait, you guys are the ones who've earned the major credit.

Ah, we need to handle the follow-up procedures now. We really owe you for this one. We'll thank you properly when we get back.

See you later."

Xiao Xiaomo ended the call.

Everyone then turned to look at Jiang Zuo. Everything that had just happened defied all logic, and they still hadn't managed to recover from the shock.

The Blood Demon had been surprised, but they were downright thunderstruck.

Anyone else in their shoes would have been just as shaken.

Finally, Chen Yi was the first to speak. "Fellow Daoist Jiang? May I ask which Sect you hail from?"

Jiang Zuo didn't answer Chen Yi's question. Instead, he asked, "Can you tell me what the deal with this company is now?"

Yang Mu from the tech department was surprised. "Fellow Daoist Jiang, you don't know?"

Jiang Zuo looked at Yang Mu and gave a slight shake of his head.

The three of them found it hard to believe. 'Is this place really full of hidden masters? Just any random employee is an extraordinary expert of this caliber?'

Jiang Zuo held the Silver Coin and sighed inwardly. 'I can't stand this thing. It's not just a matter of quality, it's the feel of it in my hand.'

As for using the coin toss to find the Blood Demon, there was actually nothing to it. It was just a matter of experience combined with some divination arts.

This type of divination was best suited for finding things. He had discovered many of his fortuitous encounters this way.

It wasn't heavily related to one's Cultivation. It was a kind of Mystic Study, and he had already mastered it to the highest degree.

Even though he had become an ordinary person and this ability had been greatly weakened, finding the Blood Demon on a map was not difficult for him.

As for the six Silver Coins, that was purely from experience, nothing more. A Blood Demon at this stage would always act that way.

He had seen it all too often. Blood Demons were just that stupid.

"The Tianhe Group is split into two major divisions. Their management is completely different; you could even say they're two entirely separate companies.

"Division One is a normal company. The work it does is no different from any ordinary corporation.

"Division Two, on the other hand, is different. There are no ordinary people here. Everyone is a Cultivator with some degree of Cultivation.

"We come from all over, from various Sects, and some of us are Loose Cultivators.

"People come here for many reasons, some to make money, others for training. But one thing is the same for all of us: the things we do are not ordinary," Xiao Xiaomo explained.

Jiang Zuo asked, "Does anyone in Division One know about Division Two?"

"Some do, but very few. That's because some people in Division One are family members of those in Division Two. There are also some powerful figures who prefer to stay in Division One, but their names are also on the roster for Division Two." Xiao Xiaomo glanced at Jiang Zuo; she had initially thought he was one of those powerful figures.

Jiang Zuo didn't ask anything else. He now understood what Su Qi was doing on her "business trip."

"I want to join Division Two. Is there a way for me to do that?"

Xiao Xiaomo asked curiously, "Which department do you want to join?"

Jiang Zuo thought for a moment. "The Marketing Department. They do fieldwork too, right?"

"Yes. The Marketing Department is different from the guys you just helped. The people in Marketing are basically all in it for the money. And the pay is very good, very fast. It's mostly Loose Cultivators, since Cultivation is very expensive, after all."

'Cultivation is expensive?'

Ever since Jiang Zuo had started his Cultivation, he had never spent a single penny. He had brute-forced his way all the way to the peak. So much had happened during that time that he didn't even have a concept of money.

But that was only after he started having his fortuitous encounters. Now, however, he really did need to spend money on some things if he wanted to recover a bit of his strength.

'Looks like joining the Marketing Department is the right choice.'

At that moment, Chen Yi asked, "Fellow Daoist, you heard them... Someone wants to treat us to dinner..."

Before Chen Yi could finish, Jiang Zuo cut him off. "I'm not interested. And there's no need to publicize my involvement."

"Then, can we still come to you if we have problems?" Xiao Xiaomo asked.

Jiang Zuo asked, "Will I get paid?"

Xiao Xiaomo froze for a second, then immediately replied, "Yes."

"Then it will depend on my mood," he said. Then Jiang Zuo asked, "Do I need to go through any onboarding procedures? I already submitted my resignation to Division One. Theoretically, I should be leaving in three days."

Xiao Xiaomo shook her head. "If you're joining the Marketing Department, I can just add your name to the roster for you."

Xiao Xiaomo then sat down at a computer and began typing on the keyboard. "Alright, your name is Jiang Zuo, right? Do you have a Sect or a Daoist title? Oh, and how old are you? Do I need to put down your marital status?"

"A Daoist title? Do you all use them?" In truth, Jiang Zuo didn't have a Daoist title, though he did have the title of Demon Monarch.

That was a title others had given him after he had made the entire world tremble before him.

He seemed to recall it was something like Destructive Demon Monarch. 'Talk about cringey.'

He never acknowledged it. 'Destructive' didn't sound nearly as cool as Thanos, anyway.

"Only disciples of major Sects or some of the seniors have Daoist titles. We're too weak, so we'd be too embarrassed to take one," Yang Mu explained.

"If I use a Daoist title, do I not have to use my name?" Jiang Zuo asked.

Xiao Xiaomo replied, "That's right, but it's fine to put down both."

"Then use Po Xiao. No Sect. Age twenty-two, married."

This information was nothing Jiang Zuo felt the need to hide. As for the Daoist title, it was simply to make up for the regret of not having one in his past life.

The Daoist title, Po Xiao, held no special meaning for him either. He just thought it sounded interesting.

A moment later, Xiao Xiaomo spoke up. "It's all set. You can pick up your work ID from HR. Your employee file has been updated, and your attendance record from Division One has been transferred over."

"Next, let me tell you about how Marketing Division Two operates. As for attendance... well, they just come and go as they please. But if you want to get an assignment, you have to come to the office, and it's first-come, first-served. When the jobs are gone, they're gone. You'll be assigned a desk when you pick up your work ID."

After listening to all this, Jiang Zuo nodded. "I think I get it. Is there anything else I should be particularly aware of?"

Chen Yi immediately piped up, "Actually, there is. For instance... want to join our group chat?"

Jiang Zuo hesitated for a moment before finally nodding.

He was then invited to join the "Perception No. 1" group chat.

Jiang Zuo's face darkened. He had thought it would be a company-wide group or a general chat group, but it turned out to be their own Perception Department group.

At this, Chen Yi explained, "The name is just what we came up with at the beginning. There are a lot of people in our group, including many beautiful Fairies. Oh, right, I forgot you're married. Still, it's nice to have something pretty to look at. They're always posting selfies."

Jiang Zuo ignored Chen Yi. He needed to go and try to restore his Cultivation.
