Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Erin Lowell, You Won't Get Away This Time

A patient was wheeled out of the ambulance. They were the most severely injured victim of a multi-car pile-up. Their white shirt was dyed crimson, and the gauze pad pressed to their abdomen was so thoroughly soaked in blood that not a speck of its original white remained.

Erin Lowell jumped into the ambulance, taking over for the nurse who had been applying pressure the entire ride. The paramedic following with the emergency gurney explained, "Dr. Lowell, the patient has an abdominal injury—major blood vessels in the abdominal cavity, severe organ damage. They're already in hypovolemic shock."

"We need packed red blood cells and plasma." Her hand pressed down on the patient's wound. "Lucy, be quick."

As the emergency gurney passed by Zane Jennings, Erin Lowell instinctively glanced up at him.
