Chapter 31 - The Beginning of Time

Season Two

Part Two

Millions of years ago,

the first human civilization came into existence.

Wait!!!

We are talking about the beginning of everything.

Let us go even further back, to an unknown time that stretches beyond billions of years ago.

Amidst the darkness of the Abyss,

a strange light appeared.

A new being.

Not a being of nothingness, but a being of existence.

It was Existence.

Yes, the wielder of the first Cosmic Magic... and the last of its kind.

Its origin came from the depths of darkness, a place that even Nothingness feared to enter.

After countless years that could never be measured,

the universes appeared.

And the one who protected them was Existence itself—the one who controlled them.

Yes...

That doesn't make sense.

How could it have created all of this?

The truth is...

it didn't.

Its appearance was inevitable,

just like its end.

Even Existence, the one who controlled the universes, did not create them.

On the contrary,

it feared them even more,

because they were the place where the Abyss would eventually emerge.

How do we know this?

Because it was inevitable.

And who will become the being of the Abyss?

We do not know.

Only Fate knows.

A being that is bound neither to Existence nor to the Abyss...

but one that preserves the balance of the universe.

Isn't that interesting, Reinhardt?!

A few moments of silence passed.

Then he replied.

Reinhardt: "If we weren't in the middle of a war, perhaps. But I would probably be asleep by now. When are you going to start fighting, Arliox—the one so desperate to kill me?"

Arliox looked toward Reinhardt,

then raised his eyes toward the sky.

Arliox: "Do you know something? You are loved by Existence."

Reinhardt, sarcastically: "In your dreams, you idiot."

Arliox, disgusted: "Because you are a monstrosity caught between a magnificent creature like a dragon and something as weak as a human. You possess two contradictory forms of magic at their highest levels—Nothingness and the Stars. If you thought about it for a moment... aren't you close to being an existential being?"

Reinhardt: "What exactly are you trying to get at?!"

Arliox began to laugh.

Then he suddenly shouted at him.

Arliox: "You are the one mentioned in the prophecy! You will either become the destructive Abyss... or the new protector—in other words, a new form of Existence."

Reinhardt: "I don't care about your stupid prophecy, because you're going to die now."

Arliox: "Unfortunately... I would prefer you to become the Abyss."

A few seconds passed.

Arliox created pillars of Nothingness, covered in strange magical spells,

and sent them toward Reinhardt.

Reinhardt: "Is that all the power you have?!"

Reinhardt used the power of the Stars,

and restrained the pillars with it.

Arliox: "Who said the target of my attack was you, Kaith Aztheron?"

Reinhardt: "Honestly, I would rather you didn't call me that, you demonic dragon."

Arliox: "Perhaps the new body of the Abyss won't be left without a few scratches, unfortunately."

Arliox launched the pillars toward Kaith,

who had only just begun to stand.

Reinhardt looked at the two of them.

Then he rushed toward Kaith.

But...

Arliox: "That was foolish of you, Reinhardt."

Reinhardt appeared in front of Kaith,

the pillars having pierced through his body.

He looked at Arliox and said:

Reinhardt: "You won't hurt this boy... unless I'm nothing more than a soulless corpse."

Arliox: "How wonderful. Your determination to die is truly impressive, son of Aztheron."

Reinhardt: "Not as impressive as your determination to go to Hell, you piece of shit."

Kaith freed himself from the pillars using the power of Nothingness,

then charged toward Arliox.

A brief clash occurred between them.

Kaith: "Reinhardt, we have to retreat."

Reinhardt: "Do you think we would stay if we were capable of leaving, you idiot?"

But then...

Arliox pierced Reinhardt through the stomach.

Reinhardt: "....."

Reinhardt coughed up blood,

then threw Arliox away.

Arliox: "One down. One left."

A few seconds passed.

Kaith: "You'll regret this."

Arliox: "I don't think so."

But then...

something happened that no one expected.

Reinhardt stood once again.

Reinhardt: "Don't forget that Nothingness doesn't require a source of energy. It feeds on hatred, you fool."

Arliox: "Some insects are becoming annoying now."
