Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Fighting Alone

In the mountain forests near Langde Village.

Seeing the red dots on the Light Screen remain motionless, Lin Mu scratched his head and said, "These guys are actually resting. This is perfect; it's the ideal time for me to strike."

"Assassination skill activated. Providing the Host with the optimal Assassination plan," the system stated.

"Assassination targets are resting. Strike the temple to cause the body to lean back, then use the dagger to slit the throat."

Looking at the plan provided by the system, Lin Mu couldn't help but marvel, "One punch, then one slash to take one out. Impressive."

Holding his military knife in a reverse grip, his body suddenly tensed, ready to strike. Like a Cheetah waiting for its prey, he lay quietly in the grass, looking at the people resting not far away with a cold smile.

After steadying himself, Lin Mu's eyes narrowed. Pushing off the ground, his entire body shot forward like a sharp arrow.

Fast!

Too fast!

Lin Mu was like a silent phantom. In an instant, he appeared behind a sentry and delivered a heavy punch to his temple.

The sentry suddenly felt a sharp pain in his temple. Without even a groan, he fainted instantly.

Before losing consciousness, he seemed to catch a glimpse of camouflage green out of the corner of his eye. His final thought was that the people pursuing them had arrived.

Lin Mu held the man's body steady as the cold blade sliced across his neck.

Squelch!

The man's body stiffened for a moment before going completely limp on the ground.

The reason Lin Mu chose to use a dagger was primarily for fear that a gunshot would alert the enemy. He had to use a dagger to eliminate them.

Reaching out to wipe a splash of blood from his face, Lin Mu rose from the ground and crept toward another sentry nearby.

The optimal plan recommended by the Assassination skill certainly saved Lin Mu a lot of trouble.

"Since you've come here, you should be prepared to stay forever," Lin Mu said coldly.

"Chop the neck to stun, then slit the throat." The Assassination plan updated as the target changed.

His modified physical attributes were displayed to the fullest at this moment. Lin Mu appeared before a drug dealer like a ghost.

Before the man could even cry out, a hand-chop slammed into Zhang Ji's neck, knocking him out without a sound.

Lin Mu caught the falling Zhang Ji and slashed with his military knife, causing a spray of blood to erupt.

"The optimal plan for the next target is the same as the first."

Lin Mu took a few quick steps to get behind him. He struck the temple first, caught the body, slashed the throat, and then dragged the corpse into the woods.

After taking that man out, Lin Rui looked at the Light Screen in front of him. Eight red dots were clustered together.

Outside of those eight, there were three scattered red dots. Unsurprisingly, like the previous two, they were sentries.

These people were truly cautious. Even with so few men, they had actually assigned five people to stand guard.

However, their arrangement actually made things easier for Lin Mu, allowing him to take them down one by one.

Wiping the blood off his dagger, Lin Mu crept toward the third person. In the dark of the night, Lin Mu was like a specter.

After taking down the third person, Lin Mu grabbed a handful of leaves to wipe the blood from his hands and continued his operation.

When he reached the fourth person, the man was urinating. Lin Mu reached out and tapped the guy on the shoulder.

The guy reacted as if he'd been bitten by something and spun around quickly, only to see a dark figure inches away grinning at him. Two rows of white teeth looked somewhat sinister in the night.

Before he could even raise his gun, a cold glint flashed before his eyes. He felt a chill on his neck as blood spurted out.

Then his mouth was covered by a large hand. The strength in his body slowly vanished, his eyes bulged, and after a few tremors, his body slumped softly to the ground.

Lin Mu chuckled and dragged the body back to the resting area to hide it.

Just as he was about to leave, he heard someone mutter, "What's that smell? It's pretty pungent."

Looking at the last scattered dot, a cold light flashed in Lin Mu's eyes, and he dashed toward it.

Three minutes later, Lin Mu looked at the man on the ground and said coldly, "If I hadn't reacted quickly, I might have been caught here today."

After speaking, Lin Mu glanced at the eight clustered red dots, clutched his abdomen, and looked for a place to rest... in the distance.

Zhao Ran, who had been woken up by the urge to urinate, had just stood up to relieve himself when he heard someone speak.

"Where are you going?"

He spun around, gripping his gun, and saw Ruan Hong watching him. Lowering his weapon, he said, "Big Brother, I'm going to relieve myself."

"You're not thinking of running, are you?" Ruan Hong's cold voice rang out.

"I am loyal to you, Big Brother. I won't run," Zhao Ran promised.

"Then what did you mean earlier when you asked if we could get out of here?" Ruan Hong asked.

"I... I really didn't mean anything else. I was just a bit worried." Zhao Ran's Adam's apple bobbed as cold sweat slowly began to flow.

"Hmm, go on then. Remember, as long as you are loyal to me, there will be no shortage of opportunities for you to get rich in the future," Ruan Hong said with a sudden smile.

"I'll remember that." Zhao Ran nodded and turned to walk toward the back.

He was well aware of Ruan Hong's paranoia, so he didn't dare go too far, staying within Ruan Hong's line of sight.

After a shiver, Zhao Ran let out a long sigh of relief.

"Shen Jun, you there?" Zhao Ran called out. "Is everything okay?"

He called out several times, but he didn't hear any of the sentries answer him. This caused a sudden wave of unease to rise in his heart.

Staring intently at the pitch-black, silent jungle, he stood in place thinking for a moment before returning to Ruan Hong's side.

Lin Mu, who had been watching Zhao Ran the whole time, looked at the departing man and thought to himself, "This person might have noticed something. I wonder when Squad Leader Gao and the others will arrive."

"Since the target may have noticed, the Assassination skill is switching to standby mode," the system stated.

About half an hour after leaving the base, the group arrived at the mission location, Langde Village.

The helicopter landed, and Dog Head Old Gao and the others quickly jumped down.

Dog Head Old Gao squinted at the distant jungle and found it completely silent, as if nothing had happened.

"What happened?" Dog Head Old Gao asked in confusion.

"Lin Mu, what's the situation on your end? Where are you now?" Dog Head Old Gao spoke into the comms.

He didn't get Lin Mu's voice, but he did hear a burst of gunfire—the distinctive sound of an AK47.

"Squad Leader Gao, that's AK47 fire. Lin Mu must have been discovered by them," an Old Special Forces Soldier said.

"Let's go. Now is the perfect chance to eliminate those people," Dog Head Old Gao said.

"Yes!" everyone whispered.

"Move fast. There are over a dozen of them; Lin Mu might not be able to hold out for long alone. Let's go." After speaking, Dog Head Old Gao sprinted into the mountain forest.

Half an hour later, Dog Head Old Gao led the Lone Wolf Commando Team through Langde Village and quickly approached the 3203 area.

"Lin Mu, what's your situation?" Dog Head Old Gao asked urgently over the comms.

However, despite calling for a long time, there was no response.

The previous skill has been slightly modifie
