Chapter 2 - finally us

Jay's POV :

Me and keifer are walking side by side on road.

The night felt different.

Maybe it was the way the air carried a quiet softness, or how the streetlights blurred into warm halos as they walked side by side. Or maybe—just maybe—it was because something unspoken between them was finally ready to be said.

Jay kept stealing glances at Keifer.

Not the casual kind. The kind where your eyes linger a second too long, where your heart beats faster just because they're there. Keifer noticed, of course. He always did.

"You're staring again," he said, a small smile tugging at his lips.

Jay looked away instantly, pretending to be interested in the empty road. "I'm not."

"You are," he teased. "And it's cute."

She rolled her eyes, but her smile gave her away. "You're impossible."

"And yet," he stepped a little closer, his voice softer now, "you still love me."

The words hung between them. Light. Dangerous. True.

Jay slowed her steps.

"I don't just love you," she said quietly.

Keifer stopped walking.

For a second, neither of them moved. The world seemed to pause around them—the distant hum of traffic, the whisper of the wind—everything faded into the background.

"What do you mean?" he asked, though he already knew.

Jay looked at him, really looked this time. No hesitation. No fear.

"I mean… I think I've forgive you for a long time," she admitted. "And I'm tired of pretending ."

Keifer exhaled slowly, like he'd been holding his breath for weeks.

"You have no idea how long I've been waiting to hear that," he said, stepping closer. "Jay… I love you too. More than I probably should."

Her heart raced. "So… what does that make us?"

Keifer smiled—soft, genuine, the kind that reached his eyes.

"It makes us… something real. If you want that."

Jay didn't answer with words.

She stepped closer.

Close enough to feel his breath, close enough that the space between them disappeared.

And then—

She kissed him.

It wasn't rushed. It wasn't perfect. But it was theirs.

Soft at first, like they were both afraid it might disappear. Then deeper, warmer, filled with all the things they hadn't said before.

Keifer's hand gently held her face, as if he didn't want the moment to slip away. Jay's fingers curled into his shirt, grounding herself in something that finally felt right.

When they pulled apart, both of them were smiling.

Not the shy, uncertain smiles from before.

These were different.

These were happy.

"So," Keifer said, still close, "does this mean you're officially my girlfriend?"

Jay laughed softly. "Only if you're officially my boyfriend."

"Deal."

The ride to her home felt shorter than usual.

Or maybe they just didn't notice time passing.

Keifer walked her to the gate, neither of them quite ready to say goodbye. The silence between them wasn't awkward—it was comfortable, full of shared glances and quiet smiles.

"I guess this is where I leave you," he said.

"Yeah," Jay replied, though she didn't move.

Another pause.

Another look.

And then—one last kiss.

Short. Sweet. Promising.

"Goodnight, Jay," he said softly.

"Goodnight, Keifer."

She went inside, but before closing the door, she looked back.

He was still there.

Watching her.

Smiling like he'd just won something priceless.

As Keifer walked back, hands in his pockets, he couldn't stop smiling.

Everything felt lighter.

The road, the night, even his thoughts.

For once, he wasn't overthinking.

For once, he wasn't unsure.

Jay loved him.

No—Jay was his.

And as he replayed the moment of that kiss in his mind, over and over again, one thought stayed with him:

This was just the beginning.

The end.
