Synopsis
“Arghhhh…. What the fuck is this severe headache” Leo thought. Yagami Leo woke up in a fantasy world where no one has slept for three hundred years, because of an ancient blessing by the Goddess of Radiance which gave infinite mana but took away the sleep from people in the Kingdom as a curse. The knights and mages think staying awake is duty. As a modern sleep consultant, Leo just thought they were a bunch of tired babies and decided to open the realm's first Sleep Clinic to cure their chronic insomnia. The only problem is that Leo's techniques looked terrifying to residents. He uses dark-magic to block out light making people awake and suggests black abyss silk as drowsy blankets. Now the sleepless King and Royal Guard think Leo is a Dark Lord who has arrived to conquer their kingdom. But kind and joyful Leo just wants those sleepless bastards to take a nap and get rid of the boon given by the so-called Goddess of Radiance.

Chapter 1 - Sleepless Kingdom

"ARGHHHHH What the fuck is this severe headache?" Yagami Leo thought, flapping his eyes and struggling to open them.

He tried to open his eyes, but a severe pain stabbed his head. It felt like someone had hit him with a stone right on his forehead. He reached his hand up to his face to remove his sleep mask. Instead, his fingers touched and rubbed against a sweaty cloth. He was sleeping on a sack of dry grass.

Wait. A sack of dry grass?

Leo was the top sleep therapist for modern billionaires. He would never sleep on the grass. His customised foam bed costs more than a small car!

He forced his eyes open and sat up. His body felt something was wrong. It was weak and shivering with weird energy. He moved out of the terrible bed quickly and stood on the cold stone floor. A cracked wooden mirror hung on the wall.

Leo looked into it. He froze.

"Who the fuck is this?" he yelled, touching his face.

The guy in the mirror was young, maybe twenty years old, with messy black hair. He had the worst dark circles Leo had ever seen. The guy looked exactly like a raccoon that had not slept for many years.

In a split second, Leo felt something weird and quickly jerked his hand down into his pants.

"Huhhhh.... It's there...." Leo calmed down.

"Where the hell am I kidnapped to?" Leo panicked, looking around the ugly and cosy room. "Is this a prank?"

Suddenly, a bunch of memories crashed into his brain. He grabbed his head and mourned in pain.

Okay, I am not kidnapped but I was transmigrated. Leo realised.

He was in a magic world called the Kingdom of Aethelgard. The original owner of this body was a poor scholar who just died from something called 'mana exhaustion'. The world Leo is living in now has magic and dangerous demons.

But there was another worst part... The most terrifying part of this world especially for a sleep consultant.

Three hundred years ago, a Demon King attacked people through their dreams and confused them about whether they were in reality or not. To save humanity, the First King prayed to the Goddess of Radiance. She gave them a divine blessing. It enhanced their bodies with holy mana, sadly it made them fully immune to sleep. They won the war. But the King died before he could ask how to turn the blessing off.

For three hundred years, nobody in this entire kingdom had slept for a full eight hours. They are just flowing with pure and strong magic energy. To these people, staying awake was like a holy duty. But in Leo's point of view, it was the biggest health crisis.

"Tskkk... Due to something, I was transmigrated, but damn that thing can't he/she make me a woman?" Leo said with a grin on his face.

Leo looked up. There was a beautiful blue crystal held to the ceiling. It was glowing very brightly and humming loudly. It was the worst light setting for the ceiling he had ever seen.

"This is a hellish nightmare," Leo whispered. He walked to the window.

Outside, the town of Vespera looked like a town in a fantasy movie. But the peopleof Vespera were crazy. A blacksmith near the building where Leo lived was hammering a sword so fast without feeling tired. Two guards were standing on the corner and training continuously without a break.

Everyone looked like they were going to have a heart attack at any second due to exhaustion.

BANNNGGG!!

The wooden door was kicked open by someone. A giant man covered the doorway. He wore heavy iron armour and had a huge sword on his back. He had a big scar on his face. He looked like a very scary mercenary.

Who is this giant asshole? Leo thought in his mind.

He also looked like he was about to cry.

"Scholar Leo!" the giant man shouted. His chest was thudding so fast. "You are awake! The guild said your magic core broke. I told them you were just meditating on the holy light!"

Why the hell is this guy calling me with the name 'Leo'? Does this body has same name as mine? Never mind. Leo is confused with thoughts.

Leo searched his new memories. This was Kaelen. A local mercenary and Leo's landlord.

Kaelen rushed forward and grabbed Leo by the shoulders. The giant's huge hands were shaking for some reason.

"The dark is coming, Leo," Kaelen said with a scary face. His eyes were drowsy and dark circles were conquered his eyes. "The shadows are moving in the woods. We must stay awake. I have been chanting the holy prayer for three days straight. I feel the Goddess burning in my bones!"

Leo gently pushed Kaelen's huge hands away.

"Kaelen," Leo said in a very calm and steady voice. "When was the last time you sat down in a nice, soft chair?"

Kaelen was totally confused. "Sat down? Real warriors do not sit! I have been walking the patrol route for seventy-two hours straight!"

"Seventy-two hours," Leo sighed, "and before that?"

"I was working at the hot forge for forty hours! The Goddess gives us infinite energy!" Kaelen continued.

"The Goddess is going to give you a heart attack before you turn thirty," Leo said, rubbing his eyes, "your posture is awful. You are carrying sixty pounds of iron on your back. You are breathing too fast and your eyes... they are whole other level of shit."

Kaelen froze. He pulled his huge sword half out with rage. "What is a heart attack? Is it a new shadow demon? Tell me where it is! I will kill it!"

"It is not a demon dumbass landlord. It is extreme physical stress," Leo said. He pointed to the floor. "Stand right there. Do not move. I need to fix this lighting before I go crazy."

Leo walked over to the window. Hiding in the corner of the bright ceiling light, there was a small black matter. It was a Shadow Slime. It was a very weak, harmless dark creature that just eats dust.

"Scholar, step back!" Kaelen roared. He pulled his sword all the way out. The sword overflowed with hot flames. "A dark demon! It is in your room! I will protect you!"

"Put that away, you are ruining the room temperature!" Leo scolded. He bent down and picked the Shadow Slime up with his bare hands.

Kaelen was shocked and dropped to his knees. "You are touching the dark abyss! Your mind will be destroyed!"

The slime felt like cool, soft jelly. It wiggled and danced in Leo's hands.

"It just wants a dark, quiet place to take a nap," Leo smiled, patting the slime. "Don't we all?"

Leo carried the black jelly to the middle of the room. He stood on his desk and reached up to the bright blue crystal on the ceiling.

"Scholar Leo, what are you doing?" Kaelen cried and held his flaming sword to block something. "Please do not let the darkness eat your soul!"

"I am not letting the darkness eat my soul, Kaelen. I am just trying to dim this damn bright light." Leo gently placed the Shadow Slime on the glowing crystal.

The slime loved the magic energy of the crystal and quickly wrapped the crystal with its wiggling body. Instantly, the irritating blue light was gone and the annoying humming sound stopped.

The room became a cool and comfortable twilight. Leo took a deep breath, and his headache finally started to go away.

He climbed down and looked at Kaelen.

The giant mercenary dropped his sword. The holy flames went out. Kaelen stared at the ceiling with his mouth wide open in shock. Now that the bright magic light forcing his brain to stay awake was gone, Kaelen's sleep got to him in a fraction of a second.

His legs trembled.

"The... the holy light..." Kaelen murmured. His eyes started to close. "You... you killed the light... with a demon..."

"I optimised the sleep environment" Leo corrected him with a polite smile.

Kaelen fell forward like a giant tree that had been cut down. Leo quickly grabbed his shoulders and helped the heavy man to sleep on the grass bed on sideways.

Kaelen was totally asleep. A second later, a loud snore came out of his mouth.

Leo stood over the sleeping giant and dusted his hands off by clapping. The scary landlord finally became peaceful. The tight muscles in his neck and hands were finally relaxing.

"Step one," Leo said happily. He picked up a piece of charcoal and a wooden board from the desk.

He wrote details.

Patient no 1: Kaelen.

Diagnosis: Extreme Magic Insomnia. Prescription: 14 hours of mandatory sleep and a way better mattress.

Leo walked back to the window. He looked out at the crazy and exhausted city. They thought they were fighting a holy war these many days, but they were just tired, really tired. Leo smiled a big, joyful smile.

He loved his job.

"Alright, Aethelgard," Leo whispered into the night. "Prepare yourselves. I am going to make your asses sleep soon."
