Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Truth Before Midnight

The clock outside struck eleven fifty.

Ten minutes left before midnight.

Arman stood frozen in the middle of the basement.

He remembered everything now.

The girl walked slowly toward him.

Blood was still flowing from her empty eyes.

"You promised," she said.

Arman closed his eyes.

"Yes… I promised."

He fell to his knees.

"I will stay with you… forever."

The girl smiled slowly.

But it was not a happy smile.

Behind her, the red glowing eyes grew bigger in the darkness.

The woman's voice spoke again.

"Do you know what you are, Arman?"

Arman did not answer.

"You are the one who was sacrificed to protect this house."

Arman's hands started shaking.

"Many years ago, villagers buried your soul here."

Silence filled the basement.

Only the sound of Arman's breathing remained.

The girl stretched her hand again.

"This house is your grave."

The clock outside struck eleven fifty-five.

Five minutes left.

The basement wall suddenly cracked.

Cold wind came from inside the wall.

And thousands of whispers started calling Arman's name.

"Come back… Arman…"

"Come back… Arman…"

The girl said softly,

"If you stay, you will become one of us forever."

Arman slowly stood up.

And for the first time, he smiled.

Because he remembered something more terrible.

He was not trying to escape.

He was trying to wake something inside the house.
