Chapter 14 - The last key

🌌 STARLOST

Episode 14 — "The Last Key"

The words refuse to leave Nova's mind.

"You were never lost."

"You were sent."

---

That night—

Nova stands alone on the rooftop.

The city sleeps below.

The stars shine above.

Yet neither feels real.

---

Sent.

The word echoes again.

Sent where?

Sent by who?

And why?

---

For the first time in his life—

Nova begins questioning his own memories.

---

He remembers his homeworld.

His training.

The scientists.

The Commander.

The escape.

---

But suddenly—

a crack appears.

Not in reality.

In memory.

---

A small detail.

Something impossible.

---

Nova realizes...

he cannot remember his childhood.

---

His eyes widen.

---

Every memory before a certain age is missing.

Gone.

Like pages ripped from a book.

---

"That's impossible..."

---

The next morning—

Aira finds Nova sitting beneath a tree at school.

Staring at nothing.

---

"You look like somebody deleted your homework."

---

Nova looks up.

"Aira."

---

His voice is serious.

---

"I think my memories are incomplete."

---

Aira sits beside him.

"How incomplete?"

---

Nova answers quietly.

---

"I don't remember who I was before becoming Nova."

---

Silence.

---

For once—

Aira has no joke ready.

---

That evening—

the black sphere activates again.

Without warning.

Without touching it.

---

The glowing symbol appears.

---

Then—

for the first time—

it speaks aloud.

---

A real voice.

Ancient.

Calm.

---

"KEY IDENTIFIED."

---

The ground shakes.

---

A massive beam of light erupts from the sphere and shoots into the sky.

---

Across Earth—

people see it.

News channels see it.

Satellites see it.

Governments see it.

---

The secret is over.

---

Earth is officially involved.

---

Deep within the beam—

images begin appearing.

---

Not pictures.

Memories.

---

Nova sees them.

---

A battlefield.

Stars exploding.

Galaxies burning.

Ancient beings made of living light.

---

And standing among them—

a child.

---

A child with Nova's eyes.

---

Nova freezes.

---

"That's..."

---

The voice interrupts.

---

"ASTRA."

---

Aira looks at him.

---

"That's the name."

---

Nova slowly nods.

---

The voice continues.

---

"Designation: Astra."

"Final Key."

"Last Creation of the First Light."

---

The world goes silent.

---

Nova's heart stops.

---

Because for the first time—

the mystery has a name.

---

Astra.

---

Not Nova.

---

Astra.

---

Suddenly—

the beam flickers violently.

---

Something has noticed it.

---

Far beyond the universe—

the darkness moves.

---

A gigantic shape emerges.

Too large to understand.

Too large to describe.

---

Stars vanish around it.

---

Not destroyed.

Consumed.

---

Even the ancient eye retreats.

---

For the first time—

the ancient being speaks.

---

One word.

---

"Run."

---

Back on Earth—

every screen on the planet activates.

Phones.

Computers.

Televisions.

Satellites.

---

One message appears everywhere.

---

INCOMING.

---

Aira stares upward.

---

The sky begins changing.

---

Not clouds.

Not storms.

---

A tear.

---

A crack across reality itself.

---

And from beyond that crack—

something begins looking in.

---

Nova suddenly remembers one final fragment.

A memory buried deeper than all the others.

---

A voice.

Gentle.

Ancient.

---

Speaking directly to him.

---

"When the darkness returns..."

---

The memory ends.

---

Nova falls to one knee.

---

Aira catches him.

---

"Nova!"

---

Nova slowly looks toward the growing crack in the sky.

---

His voice shakes.

Not from fear.

From realization.

---

"...I think this is why I was sent."

---

The crack widens.

The stars disappear behind it.

And for the first time—

Earth sees the true enemy.

---
