Chapter 15 - The arrival of the darkeness

🌌 STARLOST

Episode 15 — "The Arrival of the Darkness"

The sky is broken.

Not metaphorically.

Not symbolically.

Actually broken.

---

A crack stretches across the heavens.

Visible from every continent.

Every country.

Every ocean.

---

People stare upward.

Phones record.

News channels panic.

Scientists argue.

Governments mobilize.

---

Earth has never seen anything like this.

---

And standing beneath it—

Nova finally understands.

The fear isn't coming from humanity.

It's coming from the stars.

---

Far away—

The alien Commander watches the crack through the Ascension Vessel.

His hands tremble.

Only slightly.

But enough.

---

"Commander..."

A scientist speaks quietly.

"What is it?"

---

The Commander answers with a voice that feels older than before.

---

"The end."

---

Silence fills the room.

---

Back on Earth—

Aira stands beside Nova.

Trying to stay brave.

Trying not to show fear.

Failing.

---

"So..."

she says quietly.

"Scale of one to ten."

---

Nova doesn't answer.

---

"Nova."

---

His eyes remain fixed on the crack.

---

"...Eleven."

---

Aira immediately regrets asking.

---

Suddenly—

The crack grows wider.

---

The stars behind it vanish.

One by one.

Like candles being blown out.

---

Then—

Something emerges.

---

Not a monster.

Not a ship.

---

A hand.

---

A gigantic black hand made of living darkness.

---

It slowly reaches through the tear in reality.

---

Across Earth—

millions of people scream.

---

The oceans begin rising.

The atmosphere trembles.

Gravity fluctuates.

---

Simply existing near reality is enough for the thing to damage it.

---

Nova whispers—

---

"It's here."

---

The hand stops.

---

Then a single eye opens in its palm.

---

And looks directly at Nova.

---

Not humanity.

Not Earth.

---

Nova.

---

The voice that follows isn't heard.

It's felt.

Inside every living mind.

---

"FOUND YOU."

---

The world freezes.

---

Nova's heart nearly stops.

Because somehow—

he recognizes the voice.

---

Not from memory.

From before memory.

---

From before he became Nova.

---

Before Astra.

---

Before everything.

---

Suddenly—

The black sphere explodes with light.

---

A barrier forms around Nova and Aira.

---

The ancient voice returns.

---

"FINAL KEY."

---

"DO NOT AWAKEN."

---

The darkness laughs.

A terrible sound.

Like stars collapsing.

---

"TOO LATE."

---

The eye inside the hand begins glowing.

---

And Nova screams.

---

Memories rush back.

Thousands.

Millions.

---

Fragments.

---

A child made of light.

Ancient guardians.

The First Light.

A war older than galaxies.

A promise.

A sacrifice.

---

And one horrifying truth.

---

The darkness never came searching for Earth.

---

It came searching for him.

---

Astra.

The Last Key.

---

Aira catches Nova before he collapses.

---

"Nova!"

---

His eyes open.

Golden.

Brighter than they've ever been.

---

For a moment—

he looks older.

Not physically.

But in his gaze.

---

Like someone who has lived a thousand lifetimes.

---

He slowly looks toward the darkness.

---

And for the first time—

the darkness stops smiling.

---

Because it recognizes him too.

---

The creature speaks one final sentence.

---

"You remember."

---

Nova's voice is barely a whisper.

---

"...Not enough."

---

The darkness begins pulling itself through the crack.

More of its body emerging.

Larger.

Endless.

---

The ancient eye watches.

The alien empire watches.

Humanity watches.

---

And standing between Earth and extinction—

is a boy who still doesn't fully know who he is.

---

But for the first time—

he knows one thing.

---

He was never running.

---

He was waiting.

---
