Chapter 4 - Arrival At The Alpha Kings Territory

The night air bit at Lira's skin as Kael carried her through the dense forest. The moonlight filtered through thick branches, casting silver shadows that flickered across her face. She had tried to speak, to protest, but exhaustion and adrenaline had left her mute.

"You're stronger than you think," Kael murmured, his silver eyes scanning the shadows around them. "But the world isn't safe for you. Not yet."

Lira clutched his coat, feeling the rhythm of his heartbeat beneath her palm. There was something both terrifying and comforting about him—like standing at the edge of a cliff, knowing you could fall, but also knowing someone would catch you.

Finally, they reached a clearing. At the center stood a massive stone structure, its walls engraved with ancient runes glowing faintly in the moonlight. Wolves prowled around the perimeter, their ears twitching, tails low but alert.

"This is my territory," Kael said quietly, setting her down. "Here, you can learn to control your power. Here, you can survive."

Lira looked around, awe mixing with fear. "It's… huge," she whispered. "And… all these… wolves?"

"They're not all wolves," Kael corrected, his voice low. "Some are my pack in human form. They're like me—part human, part beast. And they follow my rules."

The ground suddenly rumbled as a massive wolf appeared from the shadows, its fur black as night, eyes silver like Kael's. It circled Lira slowly, sniffing.

"That's Nero," Kael said. "My second-in-command. He'll test you… but he'll protect you if you prove yourself."

Lira swallowed. She had no idea what "proving herself" even meant.

Kael's gaze met hers. "I won't let anything happen to you. But you need to learn. Fast."

Before Lira could respond, a distant howl split the night. Kael stiffened. "They're coming. The vampires know you're here."

Fear clawed at Lira's chest. She had survived danger before, but this… this was something else entirely. Kael took her hand, silver mark pulsing warmly. "We face them together."

Something deep inside her stirred—a mixture of fear, excitement, and… attraction. She didn't understand it, but she knew one thing: her life had changed forever.
