Chapter 19 - 19

Chapter 19

"Now whoever's house this is, it smells like onions." Bruce complained annoyingly.

"It doesn't matter, they probably died ages ago." Mr. Chicken reacted to put an end to Bruce's whining.

Suddenly, an army of onions barged through the broken-down door, making chittering noises like Amy on steroids. "Oh my God! There are more of them!" Bruce exclaimed.

"Which god? We killed the god of bananas." Pneumono reasoned.

"It really doesn't matter, it's just a saying." Bruce responded.

"The biggest problem right now is the million onions that just broke into our makeshift house!" Mr. Chicken interrupted.

The onions all stopped piling on top of each other in the doorway when they saw Bruce, Pneumono and Mr. Chicken. They all started to scream in a high pitch and annoying voice. All the onions started to scramble out of the door, tripping on the other onions underneath them. "Quickly! Get them before they tell the onion king!" Pneumono yelled. Mr. Chicken and Bruce grabbed their weapons and sprinted after the little onions. "They are surprisingly fast!" Bruce exclaimed to Mr. Chicken. "That is because they are rolling down a hill, we are just running." Mr. Chicken explained.

When Mr. Chicken and Bruce got to the bottom of the hill, they couldn't see any of the onions. "Where'd the onions go?" Bruce asked. "I'm not sure." Mr. Chicken responded. Suddenly, a cage smelling of onions fell from the sky and captured Bruce and Mr. Chicken. Mr. Chicken tried to pull the bars apart, but they didn't budge. Bruce tried to lift the cage off the ground, but there was something securing it in place. "It's no use, we're trapped!" Bruce exclaimed helplessly.

"Don't worry, Pneumono is still at that house because of their broken legs." Mr. Chicken reassured Bruce.

Meanwhile, Pneumono slowly hobbled down the hill, holding their makeshift crutch with one hand and their halberd in the other. Since the halberd was long enough to act as a second crutch, Pneumono used it instead of two crutches.

When Pneumono reached the bottom of the hill, they realized that there was nothing in front of them except for the road that they traversed down to get there and the many broken houses and cars. "Did I go down the wrong side of the hill?" Pneumono asked themselves. Then Pneumono heard Spanish laughter in the distance. It sounded somewhat like the delirious voice of Bruce's old friends. "They can't be alive. We tied them up to a light post to get hit by a falling banana or onion." Pneumono continued to speak to themselves. Pneumono walked over to where the sound was coming from to see if the weirdos survived the apocalypse.

To Pneumono's surprise, all seven mental help seekers were still tied up to the lamppost. "Hello Pneumono, we have waited ever so long." They said in unison with a deep, foreboding voice.

Pneumono realized that there was a cover over the top of the lamppost, stopping any of the deadly onions and bananas from hitting the things underneath it. "We were so dumb!" Pneumono exclaimed helplessly. Then Pneumono proceeded to use their halberd to destroy the high reaches of the lamppost cover. "No! We wait and we wait for release and all we get in return for our suffering is your malicious destroying of our protector, the lamppost cover!" The group of Bruce's old friends continued to speak in unison.

"I am not trying to kill the lamppost, but I am trying to kill you!" Pneumono explained frustratedly.

"Oh, you make us laugh," The weirdos with PHDs replied. Suddenly Pneumono reached up with their halberd to knock the cover off completely, when they dropped the shelter of their umbrella for a single second and an onion hit them on the head, catching them off guard.
