Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 : A Conversation Between Books

The library was quiet, as usual. The soft sound of turning pages and the distant ticking of a clock filled the peaceful space. Laila continued organizing books on the shelves, but she was aware that Adam was sitting at a table not far away.

He had opened his notebook and seemed deeply focused, occasionally writing something and then stopping to think.

After a while, Laila walked toward the reading area to place a few books back on the table. Adam looked up from his notebook and smiled.

"Working hard already?" he said.

Laila smiled back. "It's my first day. I want to make a good impression."

"That's a good start," Adam replied.

There was a brief silence between them. Laila noticed the pages of his notebook were filled with handwritten notes.

"Can I ask you something?" she said.

"Of course."

"What kind of stories do you write?"

Adam leaned back in his chair and thought for a moment.

"Stories about people," he said. "About choices, dreams… and sometimes love."

"Love?" Laila repeated with curiosity.

"Yes," he said quietly. "Because love changes everything."

Laila felt slightly embarrassed and looked down at the books in her hands.

"Do you believe that?" she asked.

Adam smiled.

"I believe the right person can change your whole life."

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The quiet library suddenly felt different, almost warmer.

Then Adam closed his notebook.

"Actually," he said, "I'm stuck on a scene in my story."

"Really?"

"Yes. Two characters meet for the first time, but I can't find the perfect dialogue."

Laila laughed softly.

"Maybe you should write about what happened this morning."

Adam looked at her with amusement.

"You mean when we almost crashed into each other?"

"Exactly."

He nodded slowly.

"You might be right. Sometimes real life writes better stories than imagination."

And as they both smiled, neither of them realized that the story Adam was trying to write… was slowly becoming their own.
