Chapter 376: What the Line Wanted
Day 23 opened the same grey as the one before it, but nobody moved slow this time. Kai woke to find Soren already at the ring, notebook open, measuring the traced line with a length of Pell's cord.
Pool at ninety percent. Overnight recovery had brought it back near the ceiling, same as always. He noted the number and got up.
The line hadn't changed. It ran from the ring's center to its outer edge, thin and faint, exactly where it had stopped the evening before. Soren had measured it three times since dawn, he said, hoping for a different answer each time.
"Same length," Soren said, when Kai crouched beside him. "Same width. I measured the angle twice more too, in case I made a mistake the first time."
"You don't make that mistake."
