Chapter 377: The Sixth Point
Day 24 began with both camps walking east together before the sun had fully cleared the ridge. Nobody needed to call this meeting either. The sixth point had done that on its own, the way everything at Zone Ten eventually did.
Kai's pool sat at ninety-two percent, close to the overnight ceiling. He noted it and kept walking.
Soren carried his notebook open to a fresh page, already headed Point Six — Day 24. Pell walked beside him with her cord recoiled and ready. The record-keeper boy had his ledger under one arm, ruled into three columns instead of the usual two.
"Three columns," Kai said, when he noticed.
"Cost, duration, and a third one," the boy said. "Soren told me to call it 'what changed on its own,' since that's the part none of the others had."
"That's a good column," Kai said, and meant it.
