Chapter 3 - Wolf Traces

Han Ye didn't know yet that he had caught the Tigress's attention; she was already planning to make him her subordinate.

By now, he had already returned home and lay down to rest.

In the middle of the night, while he was sleeping soundly, he didn't notice two large red rats sneaking into the cave where he resided.

One of the large rats climbed onto the meat rack and snatched a piece of the Mutated Mountain Rabbit's meat in its mouth.

Then it let go, allowing the meat to fall.

The other large rat below compressed its body into a pancake shape and silently caught the piece of meat.

Afterward, the two of them quickly left the cave, their movements completely silent and exceptionally slick throughout.

The next day, Han Ye stretched and got out of bed.

He felt like a real foodie; as soon as he woke up, he wanted to eat.

However, when he looked up at the meat rack, he was somewhat puzzled.

"That's not right! How is a large chunk of meat missing?"

Han Ye was a black tiger with a thinking mind, after all, and had long since started stockpiling food.

He would stick hard wooden poles into the ground and impale meat that had its internal organs removed on top; when the sun was good, he would take them out to dry and make jerky.

Usually, he ate fresh blood and meat, so this jerky was only for stockpiling or for breakfast.

So, with a piece of meat missing, he noticed it as soon as he looked up.

"Which god-forsaken bastard actually came to my house to steal food?"

His mood was ruined early in the morning, leaving him quite depressed.

With a large gulp, he ate a piece of jerky and then headed out to begin today's Hunting journey.

These mountains and forests were vast.

He had been Hunting on this mountain every day for over two months, and he still hadn't exhausted the food supply in the mountains.

However, given the current speed of animal evolution, he felt he could continue lying low for a long time.

Everyone grew fast and reproduced a lot; their numbers were increasing at an explosive rate.

Just then, a rustling sound came from the surroundings.

Three wild boars with terrifying tusks rushed out!

Each of these three wild boars weighed over a thousand catties. When they ran, it felt like an earthquake, making the stones on the ground vibrate.

"These guys seem to be here specifically to deal with me?"

Suddenly rushing out from three directions to attack him—it would be strange if this wasn't premeditated.

He guessed that these wild boars had figured out his patterns of movement and knew he would pass through here every day, so they set an ambush.

┗|`O′|┛ Awoooo~~

Han Ye gave a great roar, instantly intimidating the three wild boars.

Fresh blood flowed from their ears, mouths, and noses; they were badly injured by Han Ye's roar.

They stopped in their tracks, a hint of fear appearing in the eyes they used to look at Han Ye.

[Species: Tusked Wild Boar]

[Rank: E-Rank ☆]

[Talent: Thick Hide and Flesh, possesses tenacious vitality]

[comprehensive combat power: 79]

Han Ye glanced around; these three wild boars were all the same Rank.

A wild boar's combat power was already formidable among animals; with three of them attacking together, even a ☆☆-Rank creature would be no match.

At this moment, a coarse pig-like grunt came from the distance.

Upon hearing this sound, the three wild boars suppressed their inner fear and attacked Han Ye once more.

"As expected of wild boars, their defense is truly high."

"That ☆☆-Rank Civet Cat was roared to death by me, yet you three can still stand firm."

The three wild boars charged at Han Ye; Han Ye bared his teeth and met them head-on.

There was a vast difference in strength between the two sides; he directly swatted one of them to death with a single paw.

Then he leaped, jumping out of the previous encirclement, causing the other two wild boars to miss their target and crash into nothing but air.

He performed a mid-air pounce, landing directly on the back of one of the wild boars and biting down.

That terrifying bite force, combined with those saber-teeth, snapped its bones.

After a moment of furious slaughter, this wild boar lay in a pool of blood, unable to move again.

The remaining wild boar, which had failed to hit Han Ye no matter how it tried, completely panicked.

With a loud squeal, it turned and fled.

Although Han Ye was bulky, his movements were incredibly swift; he immediately gave chase and pounced on it too... "Ding! The host has hunted three E-Rank ☆ creatures, gaining 34 evolution points!"

Han Ye didn't touch these three piles of meat but instead went to search in the direction the pig grunt had come from earlier.

These three Tusked Wild Boars were nothing, but the boss behind them concerned him.

This fellow actually knew to send lackeys to test him, which proved its intelligence was not low.

Based on his observations over the past two months, the intelligence and strength of animals were linked.

The stronger the power, the higher the intelligence.

To be able to drive these three wild boars and make them so afraid, that fellow just now must be at least an E-Rank ☆☆☆ powerful creature.

"There are too many traces of animal activity nearby; I can't track it."

Han Ye searched for a while but eventually gave up.

"I'm in the open while it's in the shadows; this is too passive."

"I need to find an opportunity to lure the snake out of its hole," he thought.

He returned to his original position; those three wild boars were rare blood-food and would be enough to eat for several days.

However, as soon as he returned, he saw that his food had been despoiled by other animals!

Several meter-tall vultures and a pack of Gray-skinned Hyenas were feasting greedily.

"This is my stuff!"

"Fierce Tiger Roar!"

┗|`O′|┛ Awoooo~~

These few creatures hadn't even reached a Rank yet; their strength was very weak.

The terrifying sound of the Tiger Roar directly killed all these vultures and Gray-skinned Hyenas!

"Ding! The host has hunted three Mutated Vultures and seven Mutated Hyenas, evolution points +10!"

These fellows were decent in size, but they all had the habit of eating carrion.

He had no intention of eating food they had touched.

As for their own flesh and blood, Han Ye looked upon it with even more disdain.

He was just about to go Hunting elsewhere when a chorus of wolf howls came from the distance.

"Could it be that the Wolf Pack from the neighboring mountain is invading in force?"

Han Ye's heart tightened, and he wondered if he should temporarily avoid the trouble.

The Wolf Pack on the neighboring mountain was very large in number.

Every night of the full moon, they would howl on the cliff, making such a noise that he couldn't sleep.

A lone wolf wasn't scary, but a Wolf Pack was terrifying.

He stood still and sensed carefully for a while, realizing that there didn't seem to be many wolves.

If there really were a Wolf Pack, it should be a chorus of howling, not just these few sounds.

"If the numbers aren't many, I can treat myself to a snack."

He thought to himself as he searched in the direction the wolf howls were coming from... In the forest, four wolves with light blue fur, about the size of leopards, were chasing a large Mother Wolf.

This Mother Wolf was quite extraordinary; her fur was pale gold, and she had strange patterns on her body.

With her strength, under normal circumstances, she could easily deal with the four wolves behind her.

But she was about to give birth and didn't dare move recklessly, fearing she wouldn't be able to protect the children in her belly.

After running for a while, the Mother Wolf suddenly stopped and lay on the ground, seemingly in great distress.

Then, one by one, small wolf cubs emerged; she had finally given birth to them.

But at this moment, the four wolves behind had also caught up. Taking advantage of the fact that the Mother Wolf had just given birth and was in a weakened state, they launched a fierce attack.

The Mother Wolf couldn't hold them off and was covered in wounds by the four wolves, let out continuous cries of anguish.

Yet she did not move an inch, constantly guarding her newborn children...
