Chapter 5 - Rat Infestation

Once the [Blood Locking] talent was activated, he would not die on the spot no matter how severe the injuries he sustained were.

However, he estimated that once the hour was up, he would likely be in grave danger.

Therefore, he had to end the battle as quickly as possible to minimize his injuries.

A Tiger Roar rang out, and the terrifying sound waves snapped the surrounding trees, shattering them into splinters.

The Furious Wild Boar didn't fare well either; blood quietly seeped from its ears, nose, mouth, and eyes. Its head was groggy, and it staggered unsteadily as soon as it tried to stand back up.

Han Ye pounced forward and bit down hard on its thick, short neck.

The intense pain caused the Furious Wild Boar to struggle frantically; its massive body possessed no small amount of strength.

The reason it had been knocked flying by Han Ye earlier was entirely because it hadn't expected it and was completely off guard.

In a pure contest of strength, Han Ye was truly no match for it.

He was soon shaken off by the Furious Wild Boar.

However, that one bite had struck a vital point; the Furious Wild Boar was already doomed.

A cornered beast will still fight; the counterattack of this creature in its death throes was not to be underestimated.

Han Ye had no intention of facing it head-on and instead circled around to wear it down.

The surroundings were a mess, with countless trees broken.

Ten minutes later, the Furious Wild Boar finally collapsed in a pool of blood and breathed its last.

"Ding! Host has hunted an E-Rank ☆☆☆☆ creature. Evolution Points +51!"

"This guy was really tough. Good thing I didn't keep trading blows with it just now," Han Ye let out a soft sigh of relief.

He looked up toward the location of the Vajra Python. While he was busy fighting the Furious Wild Boar, that fellow had slipped away.

However, after being heavily wounded by Han Ye, its movement was very slow, leaving a trail of blood behind.

Before long, he found the Vajra Python and flattened its seven-inch mark with a single paw strike.

"Ding! Host has hunted an E-Rank ☆☆☆ creature. Evolution Points +37!"

He looked at his attribute panel.

At this moment, Han Ye was in very poor condition and didn't dare to linger.

He used his body to push the Furious Wild Boar's carcass back toward the cave.

As for the Vajra Python's corpse, he couldn't be bothered with it for the time being.

Half an hour later, he returned to the cave.

Upon entering, the scene before him was somewhat unexpected.

The little Golden Wind Wolf was huddled in the corner, covered in blood, while two carcasses lay beneath the meat rack.

It wasn't injured; rather, it was stained with the blood of other animals.

Those were two Mutated Ratss with dark red skin, each about the size of an adult domestic dog.

Seeing that Han Ye was heavily injured, the little Golden Wind Wolf stepped forward eagerly and began to lick him carefully.

"Don't worry, I'm fine."

"Did you kill these two thieving rats?"

"You're quite impressive, little guy!"

Han Ye kicked the two dead rats out of the cave and then lay down on the ground to rest.

"Little guy, there's a big wild boar at the cave entrance. You can eat if you're hungry."

"This area is my territory. While it's not very dangerous, you shouldn't run around blindly."

He didn't know if the little Golden Wind Wolf could understand him.

But this little fellow was quite clever! It certainly wouldn't starve to death.

Time passed slowly, and an hour had gone by since Han Ye's Blood Locking began.

Once he exited the Blood Locking state, the world seemed to turn black and white. He felt so dizzy and miserable that he fell straight into a deep sleep.

When he woke up, he saw the little Golden Wind Wolf lying beside him, also fast asleep.

Over the past three months, he had learned the taste of loneliness. Now that there was suddenly a little fellow by his side, that sense of isolation was greatly alleviated.

He didn't know how long he had slept, but it was still daylight outside.

Checking his attribute panel, his status had recovered to 19%, which was still considered heavily injured.

The little Golden Wind Wolf's senses were extremely sharp; as soon as Han Ye woke up, it followed suit.

Seeing that Han Ye had 'come back to life', the little Golden Wind Wolf let out a series of howls, appearing very happy.

It got up nimbly, trotted out of the cave to bite off a large chunk of boar meat, and brought it back to feed Han Ye.

Although the pork was a bit unfresh, now was not the time to be a picky eater.

He was heavily injured and had to eat to recover.

And so, Han Ye rested in the cave for over half a month, and his condition had recovered by seventy to eighty percent.

During this time, he noticed that rats would occasionally come in to steal dried meat.

There must be a large rat nest on this nearby mountain.

With the reproduction rate of rats, it could even lead to a rat plague and famine!

As omnivores, rats would eat eggs and small animals; the surrounding ecology could very well be destroyed by them.

He planned to contend with these enlightened rats once he had fully recovered.

Having grown accustomed to staying here, he didn't want to move... One day, as the night deepened.

It was already quite late, yet the little Golden Wind Wolf hadn't come home yet, which inevitably made Han Ye a bit worried.

In just over a month, the little Golden Wind Wolf had grown quite stout; he estimated the Furious Wild Boar's meat had played a significant role.

He had long discovered that the stronger a creature was, the richer the energy contained in its flesh and blood; eating more of it could strengthen the body.

A week ago, the little Golden Wind Wolf had become capable of Hunting on its own and frequently brought back bloody food to the cave to show respect to Han Ye.

However, it usually returned before dusk, but today the sun had been down for a long time and it still hadn't returned... Meanwhile, at the foot of the mountain.

The little Golden Wind Wolf was currently being besieged by five wolves.

Those five wolves also had dark blue fur, and each was as large as a leopard.

However, the little Golden Wind Wolf's size was a full circle larger than theirs, making it more than a match for them.

The little Golden Wind Wolf was extremely fast and agile; the five wolves couldn't even touch a hair on its body.

Yet it could easily attack them, each swipe of its claws being extremely fierce, drawing blood and exposing bone!

In the distance, a massive Wolf Pack was watching the battle.

The Wolf Pack numbered over a hundred, and several of them were actually as large as water buffaloes.

The Wolf King leading them was even more extraordinary. Not only was it filled with Kings Overbearing Aura, but its body was also surrounded by faint blue wind, looking majestic and awe-inspiring.

However, the Wolf King seemed to be wary of something; using the foot of the mountain as a boundary, it didn't dare to send more wolves over.

The little Golden Wind Wolf was incredibly brave and soon bit to death the five wolves the Wolf King had sent.

It let out a howl, seemingly expressing its anger.

Wolves are social animals; when it first saw the Wolf Pack, it couldn't have been more excited.

But it didn't understand why they were attacking it. Weren't they of the same kind?

It really wanted to go find its tiger father to ask for clarification, but now it couldn't get back.

The Wolf King sent another wolf over, and this one was twice its size!

That Blue Wind Wolf, as large as an adult tiger, bared its teeth and charged toward the little Golden Wind Wolf.

The little Golden Wind Wolf followed suit, also baring its teeth and charging toward it.

After several rounds of pouncing and killing, both had sustained injuries.

The claw marks on the little Golden Wind Wolf's body were deep enough to see bone.

Several chunks of flesh had also been scraped off the massive Blue Wind Wolf's body.

However, this kind of injury was nothing to the Blue Wind Wolf and was not fatal at all.
