Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The First Glitch

The silence didn't leave.

Even after the creature disappeared—

Something was still wrong.

Aarav could feel it.

In the air.

In his chest.

In the space between every breath.

"…What just happened?" he asked, his voice unsteady.

The girl didn't answer.

She was staring at the spot where the creature had vanished.

Her expression…

Wasn't relief.

It was worse.

"…It's starting again," she whispered.

Aarav frowned. "What is?"

⏳ The Break

A single leaf fell from a tree above them.

Slowly.

Too slowly.

Aarav's eyes followed it.

"…Why is that falling like that?"

The leaf stopped.

Mid-air.

Completely still.

Aarav blinked.

"…Okay."

A second leaf fell.

Then stopped.

Then another.

And another.

Until the air itself—

Was frozen.

"…This isn't real," Aarav said.

But his voice sounded strange.

Echoing slightly.

Like it didn't fully belong to the moment.

The girl stepped back.

"No… no, this is bad."

"What is happening?" Aarav demanded.

She looked at him—

Eyes filled with something close to panic.

"Reality is correcting itself."

⚠️ The Glitch

Crack.

The sound echoed around them.

Sharp.

Unnatural.

Aarav turned.

And saw it.

The air.

Splitting.

Not physically—

But like an invisible line had been drawn across the world.

"…Do you see that?" he whispered.

"Yes."

Another crack.

This time louder.

The forest flickered.

For a split second—

It wasn't a forest anymore.

A ruined place.

Dark.

Empty.

Dead.

Then—

It snapped back.

Aarav staggered.

"What was that?!"

The girl grabbed his arm.

"That's what the world looks like without me."

A chill shot through him.

"…What?"

🌍 The Truth Hint

She shook her head.

"No time to explain."

The cracks spread.

Across the sky.

Across the ground.

Like reality was—

Breaking.

"Why is this happening?!" Aarav shouted.

"Because you remembered me for too long," she said.

Silence.

Then—

Everything stopped.

Not just the leaves.

Not just the air.

Everything.

The wind.

The sound.

The movement.

Time itself—

Froze.

⏱️ Zero Movement

Aarav tried to move.

His body resisted.

Heavy.

Like something was holding him in place.

"…I can't move," he whispered.

But the girl—

She could.

She stepped forward slowly.

Looking around.

"…It's targeting you now," she said quietly.

Aarav's heart skipped.

"Me?"

"You saw it," she said.

"You remembered me."

A pause.

"Now you're part of the error."

👁️ The Watcher

Something shifted in the frozen world.

Not movement.

Not sound.

Awareness.

Aarav felt it again.

That same presence.

But stronger.

Closer.

Watching him.

"…It's here again," he said.

The girl nodded slowly.

"But this time…"

Her voice dropped.

"It's not coming for me."

Aarav's breath stopped.

"…Then who—"

Before he could finish—

The cracks in the air—

All turned toward him.

Like eyes.

Watching.

⚡ The Snap

A loud CRACK exploded through the frozen world.

The sky split open—

Just for a second—

And something beyond it—

Moved.

Aarav's vision blurred.

His head pounded violently.

"Don't look!" she shouted.

Too late.

He saw it.

Not clearly.

Not fully.

But enough.

Something vast.

Something impossible.

Something that shouldn't exist.

And in that moment—

A single thought echoed in his mind.

"You are not supposed to remember."

Aarav screamed.

💥 Reality Reset

Everything snapped.

The cracks vanished.

The leaves fell normally.

The forest returned.

The air moved again.

Time resumed.

Aarav collapsed to his knees.

Gasping.

"What… what was that…?" he choked out.

The girl stood silently.

Looking at him.

"…Now you understand," she said.

Aarav looked up.

Eyes shaking.

"No," he whispered.

"I really don't."

She hesitated.

Then spoke—

Something that changed everything.

"This isn't just about me anymore."

A pause.

"They've seen you."
