Chapter 12 - Episode 12: “The Day He Almost Left”

After jealousy…

something heavier began to grow.

Not love.

Not yet.

But something that hurt just as much.

🌧️ Arjun – The Breaking Point

Arjun Mehta stood in front of the administrative office.

His hands were slightly shaking.

Not from fear.

From exhaustion.

Inside the file in his hand was a notice:

"Final Warning – Scholarship at Risk due to repeated behavioural concerns."

He stared at it for a long time.

Not surprised.

Just… tired.

Because for Arjun, it felt like a pattern.

No matter what he did…

he always ended up here.

At the edge of losing everything.

🖤 The Decision

That evening, Arjun packed his bag.

Slowly.

Silently.

Books. Notes. Old clothes. Small memories.

Nothing felt heavy physically.

But everything felt heavy inside.

He whispered to himself:

"Maybe I don't belong here."

And for the first time…

he didn't argue with that thought.

🌸 Anaya Notices Something Wrong

At the student council room, Anaya felt it first.

Not information.

Not rumor.

Just… absence.

Arjun didn't attend class.

He didn't go to the library.

He didn't appear anywhere.

That was unusual.

Too unusual.

She stood up suddenly.

"Where is he?"

No one answered.

But her voice had already changed the room.

Something in her was alert now.

🌧️ Rooftop – The Almost Goodbye

Arjun stood on the college rooftop.

Wind strong.

Sky heavy.

Below him… life continued.

Above him… silence.

He thought:

"If I leave… maybe things stop getting worse."

But then another thought came:

"Or maybe I just disappear like I always do."

His grip tightened on his bag.

🖤 Anaya Arrives

The rooftop door slammed open.

Anaya Verma stood there.

Breathing slightly fast.

Not calm.

Not controlled.

Just real.

"Arjun," she called.

First time without formality.

He turned slowly.

"Why are you here?" he asked quietly.

Anaya stepped forward.

"I asked first."

Silence.

He looked away.

"I'm leaving."

That sentence stopped everything.

🌸 The Shock

Anaya froze for a second.

Then:

"Leaving where?"

Arjun replied:

"Out of this college."

Pause.

Then softer:

"Out of this mess."

Silence fell.

Anaya's voice lowered:

"Because of rumors?"

Arjun shook his head slightly.

"No."

Pause.

Then honest:

"Because I'm tired of being the problem in places I didn't create problems in."

That line… hurt her more than she expected.

🖤 The Emotional Collapse

Anaya stepped closer.

"You think leaving fixes anything?"

Arjun smiled faintly.

"I don't think anything fixes anything anymore."

Silence.

Wind stronger.

Anaya's voice cracked slightly for the first time:

"So what… you just disappear?"

Arjun didn't answer immediately.

Then:

"That's what I do best."

That hit her.

Hard.

🌧️ The First Emotional Break

Anaya's hands clenched.

"You don't get to decide that because people are unfair!"

Arjun replied softly:

"But they are unfair."

Pause.

Then lower:

"And I'm always the one paying for it."

Silence.

Anaya's voice softened:

"You're not alone in this."

Arjun looked at her.

Long pause.

Then quietly:

"I still feel like I am."

That broke something.

Not loudly.

But deeply.

🌸 The Almost Confession

Anaya stepped closer again.

This time… slower.

Careful.

"You can't leave like this," she said.

Arjun replied:

"Why?"

She hesitated.

Then said something she didn't plan:

"Because… it will feel worse."

Silence.

Arjun stared at her.

And for a second…

neither of them spoke.

Too close.

Too emotional.

Too real.

🖤 The Moment That Changes Everything

Arjun finally said softly:

"Why do you care so much?"

Anaya froze.

Because that question… had no rehearsed answer.

Her voice came low:

"I don't know."

Pause.

Then quieter:

"But I don't like it when you're not here."

Silence shattered the air.

Arjun looked at her differently now.

Not confusion.

Not anger.

Something deeper.

And Anaya realized what she just said.

Her eyes widened slightly.

She quickly turned her face away.

"I mean—this college doesn't function properly—"

But she stopped.

Because even she didn't believe that excuse.

🌧️ The Shift

Arjun slowly lowered his bag.

Not fully letting go.

But not leaving either.

He whispered:

"You're confusing me."

Anaya replied softly:

"Me too."

Silence.

But different now.

Not empty.

Not cold.

But dangerous.

🌸 Night – Arjun

Arjun didn't leave.

He went back to his room.

But nothing felt settled.

Her words repeated in his mind.

"I don't like it when you're not here."

And for the first time…

he didn't push the thought away.

🖤 Night – Anaya

Anaya sat alone in her room.

Still.

Quiet.

Her hand touched her chest slightly.

Something felt unfamiliar.

Not control.

Not power.

But dependence forming where it shouldn't.

She whispered:

"What is happening to me?"

No answer.

Only silence.

And his presence in her thoughts.
