Two days had passed.
Takeru hadn't moved.
He remained unconscious in the medical room while both Shoko's continued monitoring him.
Yuji and Nobara had checked on him constantly.
Even the others had stopped by.
Everyone was waiting for the same thing.
For Takeru to wake up.
Then, on the morning of the third day…
Takeru's fingers twitched.
One of the Shoko's noticed immediately.
"…He's waking up."
Yuji, who had been sitting nearby, shot upright.
"What?"
Takeru's eyes slowly opened.
He stared at the ceiling.
White.
Bright.
Unfamiliar.
His breathing became slightly faster.
He slowly turned his head.
"…Where am I?"
Yuji froze.
"Takeru?"
Takeru looked at him.
His expression was blank.
"…Who are you?"
Yuji's face dropped.
"What?"
Nobara stood up immediately.
"Takeru, it's us."
Takeru looked at her.
"…Us?"
Nobara swallowed.
"Yuji. Nobara."
Takeru repeated the names quietly.
"Yuji…"
"...Nobara."
Nothing.
No recognition.
Yuji stepped closer.
"Takeru, you know me."
Takeru stared at him.
"I don't."
The room went silent.
One of the Shoko's exchanged a worried glance with the other.
"Can you tell us your name?"
Takeru opened his mouth.
"My…"
He paused.
"…name?"
He looked confused.
"I don't know."
Yuji's eyes widened.
"No…"
Nobara looked toward Shoko.
"Is he…"
Shoko nodded grimly.
"Amnesia."
Takeru slowly sat up.
He looked around the room.
"Where am I?"
"Jujutsu High."
Takeru frowned.
"What's that?"
Yuji's heart sank.
"You don't remember Jujutsu High?"
Takeru shook his head.
"I don't remember anything."
He looked down at his hands.
"I don't remember this place."
He looked at Yuji.
"I don't remember you."
Then Nobara.
"I don't remember you either."
His eyes moved toward the door.
"Who are all of you?"
Yuji clenched his fists.
"Takeru…"
Takeru looked at him.
"Is that my name?"
Yuji nodded slowly.
"Yeah."
Takeru repeated it.
"Takeru."
He seemed to test the word.
"…Takeru."
Nothing came back.
One of the Shoko's gently spoke.
"You suffered a serious fall."
Takeru looked at her.
"How far?"
"Four stories."
His eyes widened.
"Four stories?"
Shoko nodded.
"You were unconscious for two days."
Takeru looked toward the table.
His sunglasses were sitting there.
He stared at them.
"…Those mine?"
Nobara nodded.
"Yeah."
Takeru picked them up.
He turned them over in his hands.
"They feel familiar."
He put them on.
Nothing.
No memories.
No faces.
No battles.
No timelines.
No Sukuna.
No Gojo.
No beach.
No god.
No Ren.
Nothing.
Takeru slowly lowered his head.
"I really don't remember anything."
Yuji looked devastated.
Takeru noticed.
"…I'm sorry."
Yuji shook his head.
"Don't apologize."
Takeru looked at him.
"Why?"
Yuji forced a small smile.
"Because you're my friend."
Takeru stared at him.
"…Friend."
He repeated the word quietly.
It didn't bring anything back.
But somehow…
he didn't dislike the sound of it.
