The car was forced to a stop amid a thick, hazy fog. As the entire motorcade ground to a halt, two motorcycles materialized from behind, swiftly and brutally puncturing the tires of several vehicles.
The wide road was already shrouded in thick layers of smoke. The vehicles were bulletproof, and those inside could only hear the dense thudding of impacts against the exterior. Their opponents had clearly come prepared; stepping out now would be suicide—they'd be riddled with holes in an instant.
However, the occupants of the cars showed no signs of panic. To the surprise of the three assailants, not a single bodyguard emerged from the vehicles.
The bodyguards' refusal to emerge was a problem. With the assailants' suppressive fire, anyone remaining in the cars was a sitting duck, bound to be taken down eventually.
Any battle-hardened bodyguard knew that staying put like this was a terrible idea.
