For a few moments, silence reigned on the hallway as the monster that was slowly transforming back into its human form simply looked at Alan, its eyes still wide with shock and confusion as it took a step back.
Finally after what felt like an eternity, the monster had reverted fully back to its human form, now looking just like any regular average woman that one would see on the street, nothing about her seemed special anymore, a complete and perfect disguise or maybe it wasn't a disguise, maybe it simply was how she was.
"You… I'm sorry dear Alex, I… I shouldn't have doubted you, my husband. I'm so sorry, ofcourse you would never cheat on me, you aren't that kind of person." The woman spoke as she walked closer and wrapped her arms around Alan, her eyes starting to fill up with tears that quickly spilled out and ran to her chin whilst her entire body shook.
'How… how the hell am I supposed to react to this shit. Okay… let's just think, her husbands name is Alex, that means I have to refer to myself as Alex when around her or I am royally screwed if she ever finds out… especially if she found out whilst she was hugging me… I don't even want to imagine that and what would happen to me if she did.' Alan thought to himself as he felt a shiver course through his entire body as his mind had already conjured up the image of his body being ripped in half through his midsection from the sheer strength of the monster before him.
'Observe' Alan thought and just like he had suspected, it still wasn't working, the skill was gone atleast for now, he had no idea or way of finding out just what exactly the monster was or any kind of information about the woman.
Lifting his hand carefully, he placed it on her back and started patting her awkwardly whilst trying to seem as warm as he could be though it wasn't an easy job, especially when he knew just what the woman really was and what she looked like on the inside.
"It's okay darling, still why are you here in the hallways, shouldn't you be in your room?" Alan asked, his voice as carefully neutral as it could be.
The woman took a step back, still however she maintained her closeness with Alan as she lifted her head and looked at him with a look that could only be called fanatical and obsessive love.
"Oh my darling Alex, I was just looking around for food and then the next moment, I saw you and this rage came over me, I didn't know what I was doing and I thought you had cheated on me. You forgive me though right?" The woman asked as she smiled at him.
'Cringe… so damn… cringe. Either way, she was looking for food, the question now is whether she was looking for food and then got infected by something and became a monster or was the monster looking for food, if its the first option then great, if its the second… then it means she feeds on human flesh… I really hope its the first option.' Alan thought to himself, already feeling exhausted with dealing with the supernatural monsters that just seemed unable to leave him alone after he had gained the system.
"Ofcourse I forgive you baby, you just loved me so much and you got hurt by misinformation, in fact it is a bit of my fault that you even thought about it, I should have told you about my cousin beforehand however I forgot and that led to this misunderstanding. You aren't at fault here at all darling." Alan replied quickly whilst he was still inwardly thinking about the entire situation, his heightened intelligence stat had at least given him this one boon, his ability to direct his mind into multiple lines of thought at the same time was something that he could do in situations like these where he needed to form a plan whilst at the same time keeping up an outward facade.
"I knew you would, my sweet darling, you're the best. The best." The woman said as she jumped slightly on her feet, her eyes shining obsessively towards Alan and then in the next moment, a smile started appearing on her face, it was a devious smile and it was growing larger by the second.
'Ah… ah fuck, what did I do now?' Alan thought to himself as he felt a bad premotion whilst looking at the woman before him.
"Since you also agree that It's your fault about not telling me about that cousin of yours… then you should apologise properly no? How about you take me to a restaurant or oh I know, I have some food and I can cook us up a dinner, come to the rooftop for like a date, It's been so long since we had any of those. Tonight, at like ten at night, don't be late darling!" The woman spoke quickly before she turned around and started walking away quickly, practically skipping, not even waiting for Alan's response as she vanished around the corner of the hallway.
Alan was left standing there at the door of his apartment, staring in confusion and slight shock at what had just occurred and the events of the past few minutes flew through his mind in a loop.
'I'm going on a date… with a legitimate monster, not like Cullen monster, but actual monster who thinks that I'm her husband. Where did I go wrong in my life? Who did i offend? What?' Alan thought before he released a long winded sigh of pure disbelief at the entire situation.
"Alright then… alright, let's… I can just ignore the invitation. Now… I can use this moment to start checking around on the other rooms and see if anyone else is still alive and since I don't have access to the system, I actually need to find food and drinkable water… this is going to be annoying." Alan muttered to himself as he started walking.
