Jude looked at Violet slowly as her face hardened
"I knew what everyone now knows", she said
Scarlett shook her head
"You knew and you didn't care to let your brother know"
"I don't know what you are talking about", Violet said
"I thought you would say that but you went out of your way to investigate me"
Violet's eyes blinked briefly, and Jude saw it
"Did you investigate her?", Jude asked
Violet looked at him sharply
"Did I investigate a woman that you brought from the club?"
Then she took a brief pause
"Well....yes, I did", she added
"But I thought I remember telling you not to investigate her?", he asked
Violet's expression changed into defensiveness
"I was only trying to protect my family"
Scarlett almost let out a smile
"There it is"
Violet looked at her sternly
"What are you talking about?"
"I am talking about that sentence you just made", Scarlett replied
Jude's expression changed slightly
