Chapter 4 - Scar the Undead pt 4

The archer, Mel was now stopping Scar and Rebel from leaving. She seemed very dissatisfied with something but they couldn't figure out what was going on.

"You cheated didn't you." Mel accused not wasting time. "I saw that arrow. It wasn't supposed to hit the bullseye, but somehow it changed course at the last moment. I don't know how you did it but I know that you did something to that arrow." Mel said standing strong with a determined gaze.

"I don't know what you're talking about. Not my fault there's someone here who can hit a bullseye other than you." Scar said then tried to walk off causing irritation to form across Mel's face.

"I-I said wait!" Mel ran and grabbed scars arm before she could escape. "Who are you really? there's no way Scam's your real name." Mel said trying to gain eye contact however Scar just kept avoiding the possibility of her seeing her face. "I get it. It's cause you don't trust me, is that it?" Mel asked letting go of Scar's hand and both of them turned away. Rebel decided to get a move on so he started pulling on Scar's sleeve making sure she was following. Mel stood staring at them, a hint of regret in her eyes.

"Were you ok leaving like that?" Rebel asked after making sure they were alone. "you could have made a friend." He teased.

"Weren't you the one that pulled me away?"

"Yeah, cause you looked uncomfortable." Scar looked away in annoyance.

"I just felt something. I'm not even sure if it came from her but it stopped my mind for a little bit."

"It must have been from a lack of food. Come on, let's get something to eat."

"Didn't we just leave the village?"

"We aren't going to eat in that village. I felt something off there. Anyway, I've got a different place in mind." Rebel said running on ahead leaving Scar to follow after. A few minutes later Scar was embraced by the smell of fried meat making her mouth water. "Here we are." Rebel announced looking proudly at a huge pub with many satisfied costumers.

"Where is this?" Scar asked approaching the place.

"My little slice of heaven. Rabbits tail. I could go for one about now." Rebel said rushing inside. Scar followed opening the door. As soon as the costumers heard the screeching noise from the entrance everyone's eyes were on her. Scar awkwardly closed the door and walked over to the counter where Rebel was already eagerly waiting. "So what are you getting?" Rebel asked excitedly. Scar looked around suspiciously making everyone turn around and continue with what they were doing before, adding in a few mumbles here and there.

"Anything that would fill me up." Scar said, slowly facing Rebel again.

"Alright. Jade! You have costumers here!" Rebel shouted behind the counter. From a door, a woman came. She had long flowing hair with brown eyes. As soon as she laid eyes on Rebel she had the most disappointed and exhausted look on her face. "You could at least try to hide your disappointment."

"I could but that would be lying." The woman, Jade, said as she walked up to the counter. "So what'll you have?" She asked looking at both Rebel and Scar.

"The rare rabbit deluxe. And... he'll have the same." Rebel said with an eager expression.

"Coming right up. And I suggest you enjoy it. It may be your last." Jade said preparing some plates.

"What do you mean?" Scar asked a little curious.

"Well, the animals around this area were supposed to hold out for hundreds of years. But there's this group of bandits who have taken most of the rabbits and other animals out of the forest. They're selling them, killing them, using them as if they were their own." Jade explained. "and now some people can't afford to buy any cattle or food."

"That sounds exactly like what you're doing." Rebel said nonchalantly and jade punched the counter with a sour expression.

"I'm doing it to make a living... to survive. They're just doing it for shi*'s and giggles." jade said bitterly.

"Woah, no need for language. We'll see what we can do, alright." Rebel said exasperated. He looked over at scar to see her intake in all of this but she stayed quiet and looked on ahead as the food was placed in front of them.

"Dig in you guys. It'll be ten silver pieces." Jade said, Scar then handed her the money. Jade then went back to tending to her other costumers after counting how much was in the bag and storing it away.

"So what do think?" Rebel asked Scar expectantly.

"Can't really say. I haven't tried it yet." Scar said going in for her first bite.

"Not about the food, about those bandits. You can take them on."

"Absolutely not. I'm not some superhero who can go around saving the day. I can barely survive a day. I look after myself, no one else, especially if there's nothing in it for me." Scar said devouring her roasted rabbit. "It's really good."

"But, if the bandits can just do as they please then how will you eat meals like this anymore. If you let those bandits win you will have to pay double-no triple the amount you're paying now." Rebel persuaded. Scar was now quiet. She thought for a bit then took a deep breath.

"Fine. I guess it would suck if I have to stay here for thousands of years and I can't have decent food in that time." Scar said standing from her seat and walking to the door.

"H-hold on!" Rebel said clutching the rabbit in his mouth and running after her.

"FYI, I said thousands of years in case we don't make it to Valour's Heart since we keep astraying from our path and dealing with this crap." Scar said in an annoyed manner.

"Yeah, yeah. Don't worry, we'll get the-" Rebel was stopped by a loud noise coming from the door closing forcefully. He looked in front of Scar and saw a guy was blocking her way with a hand on the door and in that hand, a wanted poster. Great, just what we need. Rebel thought.

"Is this you?" The guy said in a low threatening voice. It was a poster of Scar without her hoodie on. On the poster, it read 'Undead scar. Wanted. Reward 500,000 gold pieces' it big letters.

"Sorry, you have the wrong person." Scar said trying to make it to the door.

"I want some proof of that if you don't mind." The guy said gesturing to her hoodie. Now everyone's eyes were on them and Rebel could just back off from the number of people with daggers and swords. she may be invincible, but I'm not. Also, it's still gonna hurt no matter if she's immortal or not. what is she gonna do? Rebel thought worriedly looking over at Scar, however, he could only see her back.
