Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: He’s Not Coming Back

Ethan Sterling's throat couldn't help but move up and down, the look in his eyes and the sound of his voice seemed like a raging fire, making his whole body heat up.

Every cell in his body seemed to rush toward a certain point in an instant, which was very odd!

Damn it!

Ethan suddenly dropped his hand and ran out, somewhat embarrassed. He stumbled so much he didn't even have time to put his feet into his slippers, as if there was a ferocious beast in the room!

Finally, he was away!

It hurts!

Seraphina Redgrave moved her wrist and slowly sat up. She cautiously left the room, tiptoeing like a cat stealing food, arriving at the stairs. A large potted plant beside her perfectly concealed her figure, allowing her to observe the downstairs area perfectly.

In the lobby downstairs, Nathan Ayers stood with a serious face in front of Theodore Prescott, holding the clothes styled for Ethan Sterling—a simple yet elegant black coat paired with a classic white shirt.

Ethan put on these clothes with a blank expression. Putting on clothes was normally nothing, but when he did it, it was as if watching a work of art.

"Some legislators are making grand statements in front of reporters, accusing you of manipulating the country's economy, planning to monopolize the nation's lifeline, and wiping out other companies."

Nathan spoke nervously, his voice involuntarily gentler, fearing to provoke this "ancestor".

"I like to control things, that's my business, but saying I'm wrong is their lack of discernment!" Ethan chuckled lightly, but his words sent chills down one's spine, "They are unnecessary."

A short sentence sealed these people's tragic futures.

"Okay." Nathan quickly agreed. After Ethan sorted out his clothes, Nathan handed him the coat,

"The Presidential Palace called, wanting to communicate with you."

"No time."

Ethan draped the coat over himself, looked down at Nathan. He was tall and imposing. At first glance, one could only think of one phrase—"A gentleman in appearance, a villain at heart."

Suddenly, Ethan remembered something. He then turned to stare seriously at Nathan, "Arrange a woman for me."

He dared not recall the events of the morning carefully, afraid of an unseemly reaction.

"Woman? What woman?"

Nathan was slightly confused.

Ethan was at a loss for words, "A clean, adult woman, volunteer, understand?"

"Oh, okay!"

Nathan finally understood what Ethan meant by woman and quickly lowered his head in shame.

However, wasn't President Sterling here to meet the substitute for the lady of the house? Why'd he want to do "that kind of thing" right after seeing her? Something seemed off.

Subconsciously, Nathan glanced up the stairs.

Seraphina Redgrave quickly hid behind the vase, frowning, and unconsciously pursed her lips. She also found Ethan's words ambiguous!

After a long while, Ethan finally left with Nathan.

Hibiscus Garden was just a small villa, more like a private villa, and Ethan rarely stayed overnight here.

...

Soon, the new servants reported to Seraphina Redgrave. One was Nanny Lynch and the other was Granny Coleman.

With previous "painful experiences", they were now even more cautious in taking care of Seraphina Redgrave. Afraid she might suddenly have another incident!

But Seraphina Redgrave was still the same as before, gloomy every day. Occasionally, she would react, only to stare motionlessly at her reflection in the mirror.

Over time, Granny Coleman and Nanny Lynch got used to her distant and dazed demeanor, their surveillance less stringent than before.

Knowing her place in Ethan Sterling's heart, Seraphina Redgrave was now ready to do her thing.

It wasn't really escaping; after all, food, drink, and entertainment were all available here, with Granny Coleman and Nanny Lynch closely taking care of her. She'd feel a bit unaccustomed if she suddenly left.

She simply wanted to go out and see this somewhat unfamiliar world and the 'family' she hadn't seen in a long time…

As she recalled the past, a hint of coldness flashed in Seraphina Redgrave's eyes.

"President Sterling hasn't been here in a long time, not sure if he's coming today..."

Nanny Lynch said cautiously while wiping the sofa in the room, testing Seraphina Redgrave.

This surely wasn't directed at Seraphina Redgrave, Granny Coleman was cleaning up nearby. Hearing Nanny Lynch's words, she chimed in, "I think it's unlikely. They say the young master is going to A City for a meeting today, doesn't even have time to return to the Capital, let alone Hibiscus Garden!"

Ethan Sterling not returning to Hibiscus Garden? What a huge relief!

Seraphina Redgrave suddenly became excited, jumping down from the bay window. She started laughing idiotically in front of Granny Coleman and Nanny Lynch, then pulling her hair, muttering to herself.

"..."

Granny Coleman and Nanny Lynch exchanged glances and sighed together, "Sigh! Such a fine young lady, how did she end up with such a condition!"

Seraphina Redgrave continued laughing foolishly as she walked out of the room, pacing back and forth between the hall and the room, refusing to stop. Granny Coleman watched her worriedly, afraid she'd bump into something.

Under Granny Coleman's watchful eye, Seraphina Redgrave deftly took Nanny Lynch's sleeping pills.
