Third-Person View................
Leo walked up to the officer standing beside the open hood. "Good morning, Officer," he greeted him.
The man looked behind him to see Leo standing there. "Oh, good morning, young man. How can I help you?"
Leo scratched his neck. "Actually, it's the reverse. I was wondering if you need any help with the car. I know my way around engines."
Charlie looked at Leo for a moment before nodding. "Please. The engine stopped right in the middle of driving, and I have no idea why."
Leo nodded and examined the engine for a while. "Ah, I see. It's not a big problem. I'll grab some tools from my car and work on it. It won't take much time."
He went back to his car, picked up his tools, and started working on the police cruiser's problem.
While Leo was focused, Charlie, who was watching him, said, "If I'm not wrong, you're James's son, right?"
Leo paused for a moment before nodding and getting back to work.
Charlie looked at him, his voice tinged with sadness. "How are you holding up?"
Leo nodded. "Quite good now. My parents wouldn't want to see me holding onto them and being depressed. I won't lie and say I'm completely fine, but I'm managing somehow."
Hearing this, Charlie nodded with a warm smile. "If you ever need any help in the future, just drop by the station. Although your family and I weren't that close, I still owe your father a big one, so that's the least I can do." He then looked at Leo seriously. "But no illegal things, understood?"
Leo laughed. "Loud and clear, sir. So you knew my father?" he asked, nearly finished with the repair.
Charlie smiled at his reaction. "Well, you look like him, except for the eyes and hair, something you took from Anna, your mother. We were high school classmates, and it was on his advice that I became a police officer and now the Chief."
Leo closed the hood, his face surprised. 'This is new. Never heard about the reason for that in the movie,' he thought. He looked at Charlie. "Well, that was surprising. I never thought my father played that kind of role."
Charlie chuckled at that.
Leo finished securing the hood. "The car's good to go. Just start the engine."
Charlie turned the key, and the engine roared back to life. After a small talk, Leo took his leave.
Driving through the town, he found it simple and boring, so he skipped the long drive and headed straight to a small supermarket to pick up what he needed. On his way back home, he spotted a young woman standing in the middle of the road, right in his path. He stopped the car not far from her. The moment he got out, he couldn't help but smile, as the one in front of him was none other than Alice, the pixie.
Smiling, Leo approached her from a short distance. "Hi there. What are you doing in the middle of nowhere? It's dangerous, you know."
As if waking from a trance, she looked at him and grinned. "Nothing, just a slight problem with the engine."
He looked past her and noticed a silver Volvo standing there, with someone with their head down near the engine. The moment Leo got closer, the person flinched and looked in Leo's direction in confusion, then nodded a greeting. It was none other than her mate, Jasper Hale.
Leo nodded back with a smile. "Mind if I take a look?"
As he got closer, he found the engine smoking heavily. He peered closer and found that the pistons were burned thanks to extreme use of NOS. His smile crumbled, and he looked at them, annoyance clear in his voice. "How is this a slight problem? Do you guys want to blow yourselves up?"
He looked at them. They exchanged a puzzled glance, so he continued with a sigh. "How much do you two love speed to blow your engine this much? If the car wasn't installed with a safety trigger to stop pumping NOS at a certain point, you would be roasted right now."
They finally understood what he meant. Jasper looked at Alice, a look of defeat on his face, and Alice looked away sheepishly.
Leo mused and looked at Alice. "So the little pixie loves speed..." he said as he started to walk back to his car.
Alice, quickly recovering, followed him. "Where are you going?"
Leo got closer to his car and answered, "I'll attach your car to mine and give you a ride home."
They nodded and started to talk to each other as he opened his car door to retrieve a tow cable, not knowing that he could hear them clearly due to his enhanced senses.
