Chapter 27 - Threat

The granny gazed at Rafael with a stern expression.

"Why?" Rafael frowned "They have done nothing wrong."

The creatures remained silent and averted their gaze from him.

"You call them Monarchs but I think it has a different meaning." Rafael sighed

A dragon roared, "HOW DARE YOU!!!"

"You don't need to know the reason." The granny told Rafael

The way they spoke was as if they asked him to slaughter a calf. Didn't the Monarchs mean more to them as compared to normal humans?

Rafael couldn't control his facial expression as rage transformed his features. His energy was running amok with an oppressing aura.

"Don't you want to save people?" The granny frowned "Just kill the Monarchs."

"I won't," Rafael answered

"What?!" The granny exclaimed

Rafael's eyes were red as rubies when he looked back at the Granny. Spiritual energy pulsed through every blood vessel since he wasn't controlling it anymore. The energy was surging out of beyond his control.

"DO YOU WANT EVERYONE TO DIE!!!??" The Granny snapped

Rafael replied, "So be it."

Granny roared monstrously and vines punctured Rafael's body. The temperature dropped and Rafael didn't move as blood splashed on the floor. He could hear his heart beating louder than a drum in his ears.

*CRACK*

The creatures' instincts went into full panic mode. Their bodies involuntarily moved away from the bleeding human and didn't even notice the silence caused by them holding their breath. The energy squeezed itself out of his body painfully. His face drained of any color as he fought to remain conscious.

"If I die here....the many enemies of the kids will kill them....." Rafael thought

The granny clicked her tongue, "We'll need to find another way."

Rafael heard her clearly and raised his eyes towards her. His sclera was reddened with blood and made his now unnatural bright green eyes appear more frightful as they turned red again.

"End him." Granny frowned with an odd feeling of alarm

More vines aimed toward Rafael. A strong wave of energy emitted from his body and the children sensed it and became restless. Actually, everything that could sense spiritual energy was distressed as well.

Granny looked as Rafael held the vines meant for his vitals. The others were allowed to hit their target on his body as he straightened up his body. The taste and smell of iron were strong while he skimmed his eyes over the creatures.

"JUST DIE!!" The Granny snapped

A pointed stone flew into Rafael's chest. He vomited blood and stood his ground. He swayed but didn't fall as let out a dry laugh.

"How are you still alive?!" The Granny growled

Rafael laughed, "They're dragons, ghosts and a hag like you. What's so wrong with me being alive?"

The Granny raised her hand again although suddenly spiritual energy flowed in the opposite direction. The energy was being sucked in by Rafael's body as an evil smile spread over his face. Everyone was frozen in place at the horrendously beautiful sight.

Light green spiritual energy was now visual to the naked eye and looked like fairy dust. It spiralled around Rafael and they heard a lub dub

Everyone widened their eyes and stared at Rafael. The wound where his heart was still wide open and displaying his heart reconstructing itself. Rafael tilted his head with a smirk on his face.

"Would you look at that?" Rafael laughed as clouds filled up the sky

It started to rain strongly and the smile on Rafael's face vanished. His eerie blood-red eyes held no emotion within them and the earth seemed to quake in fear. The thunder echoed in the sky like a demonic scream.

"Are you with them?" Rafael asked Kyle

Kyle went on one knee and bow his head respectfully. It was like a loyal knight bowing to his liege lord, showing his allegiance and devotion.

"No, sir." Kyle answered, "I...only wish to be of any help to you."

"Kyle?" a dragon exclaimed

Rafael looked at Kyle and unconsciously said, "Then, be my Knight?"

"Yes," Kyle answered seriously

A mark appeared on top Kyle's his tongue as Rafael turned his gaze to the others. They saw that his wounds had closed up and didn't know why. They were terrified.

"I'll gamble all your lives if I must," Rafael announced

The Granny yelled, "WHY? JUST THREE CHILDREN!!"

Rafael appeared in front of the Granny and she was paralyzed when she looked into his eyes.

"Impossible." she screamed as she fell backwards "HOW!? IT'S CAN'T BE?!"

"What?" a unicorn reacted

"HOW ARE YOU A MONARCH!!!" Granny yelled as she pulled on her white hair. "IT CAN'T BE!!!"

Rafael finally smiled, "All things are possible, Hag."

Rafael turned around toward the forest and turned back. They saw his eyes turning green again.

"I don't care what you do. Although if you try killing those innocent children, I will hunt you down and give you gruesome deaths." Rafael warned

Several bolts of lightning struck the land which the creatures luckily dodged. When he returned to glare at Rafael, he wasn't there anymore.

"What is happening?" a fairy frowned "There are four Monarchs?"

"THERE CAN'T BE FOUR OR ELSE....." Granny shrieked "WE'RE DOOMED."

Rafael walked toward the children's energy with Kyle slightly behind him. He was aware of the changes in his body but it just didn't feel real.

"Why were they so shocked?" Rafael asked

"There are not supposed to be more than three Monarchs alive at the same time," Kyle answered respectfully

Rafael sighed and turned his head. His eyes widened as they saw a field of skull heads.

"Where are the bones?" Rafael asked himself as he examined the skull.

Rafael put the skull in his backpack and sighed to himself. He continued looking for the way back home and was now in thought over the missing and death reports.

They arrived at the house and saw Tyler seated outside. His friend was happily watching the kids playing tag and turned up when he saw him.

"What if there were more?" Rafael asked, "Monarchs, I mean?"

Kyle replied, "It is said something horrible beyond repair has started."

"Then let it be." Rafael went

'RAFAEL!!: The kids yelled

They ran toward him and Tyler turned his gaze to Kyle with curiosity. Paisley came out with the Boss following her.

"We're going to put our lives on the line." Rafael thought with a resolve
