Chapter 59 - Power

The rest of the group of new students had already scattered, eager to explore the rest of the facilities in the academy, leaving only Clay, Josh, and a few others behind.

Josh turned to Clay.

"So.... Where do you wanna go first?" Josh tried starting a conversation.

"Don't know, don't care." Clay responded, upset that he had now apparently offended the son of a duke, courtesy of Josh.

"Alright, uhh, how about we go check our dorms first then?" Josh knew he really had done it this time.

Clay was silent.

A moment later though, he began walking towards the dorms. Seeing this, Josh let out a somewhat relieved sigh.

"Hey wait up!" Josh quickly caught up to Clay, who had walked quite far already despite the short amount of time that had passed.

Meanwhile, 3 pairs of eyes were watching them both.

"Those two.... They're quite interesting aren't they?" Charot mused.

"Indeed they might be the most talented out of the new students." Rafael nodded.

"Those young ones sure don't look like it, but they are quite special... They didn't even need our help from that explosion earlier." Tom agreed with them as well, already thinking of how he could find out more about those two promising kids.

...

..

.

Achoo!

Clay sneezed.

'Strange. My stats are pretty high, is it still possible to get a cold?' Clay rubbed his nose as he pondered.

It didn't seem to make sense that he could still get cold with those mind-boggling stats.

Speaking of stats, Clay remembered that he still had some unclaimed quests.

'System, open unclaimed quests.'

*Ding!*

Unclaimed Quests

[You Dare Attack Me?]

[Advanced]

'Open both quests.'

Quest name: You Dare Attack Me? (Completed)

\Defeat some goons/

{Fight and defeat 4 grown men (4/4)}

Quest rewards: 1000 SC, 500 EXP, 35 Stat Points, and [Basic Combat] skill

Quest Failure Penalty: -20 Experience

Quest Time Limit: 30 Minutes

And the other quest.

Quest name: Advanced (Completed)

\Gather materials for creating a Tier 3 map/

{Gather 1 sheet of Enchanted Paper, 1 Enchanted Quill, and 1 Enchanted Jar of Ink}

Quest rewards: 3000 SC, 7500 EXP, and 750 Stat Points

Quest Failure Penalty: -1 Level

Quest Time Limit: 1 Month

[Yes/No]

Now Clay was in a dilemma.

If he claimed these rewards he would get absurdly strong.

Especially the |Advanced| quest, if he claimed that, the 7500 experience points and 250 stat points that he would gain would be disastrous.

Giving a teenager—barely an adult all that power? Yeah, try not to cause any problems level impossible.

And what happens after he claims the quest? He would receive another one, a quest where he would also get even more absurdly strong than how he already is.

It would keep going on and on, until even the world can't contain him.

But isn't that what Clay truly wanted?

To be so strong that no one could ever mess with him nor his family and people he held dear.

So naturally Clay clicked yes without thinking twice.

[Yes/No]

"Yes." Clay doubled down on his choice, ready for the itch that would come, along with the drastic increase in power.

First came the minor itch, Clay guessed it was from the first quest as the rewards are much more fewer than the second quest.

Clay nodded as he dismissed the notifications, paying some attention to the last one.

He was already waiting for the upcoming huge stat boost that would be greater than any he ever had.

Even before reading the rest of the notifications and stopping just at that single line, Clay could already tell he was now an absolute powerhouse.

'Increased by 308. Doesn't that mean some of my stats have broken through 1000?' Clay pondered as the warmth and itch this time was more overwhelming than the previous one as usual.

Then, the rest of the stats came.

Now Clay was assured that all his stats, with the exception of his mapping stat, has reached and broken past through 1000.

The number that was said to be myth and not believed to be achievable by many.

Clay had achieved it.

He had done it.

He was now able to ensure the safety of his family.

He was now powerful.

Clay took a deep breath, unintentionally drawing gusts of wind everywhere toward him, prompting many to look behind wondering what was going on.

'System, open stats.'

Stats

Race: Human

Level: 46(325/945)

Health: 6155/6155

MP: 11260/11260

Strength: 1189

Agility: 1222

Intelligence: 1189

Dexterity: 1214

Vitality: 1231

Mystic: 1067

Mapping: 8

Unallocated Stat point(s): 599

Remarks: You are now eligible for the title of the strongest human on the planet.

Clay took a step towards the dormitories, the full weight of 1000 points of strength coming down with his foot.

But just before a disaster could happen, Clay immediately retracted the strength, and precisely adjusted his steps to be gentle and harmless, courtesy of the massive points of dexterity he has of course.

*Ding!*

Another system notification popped up.

Clay glanced at it for a moment before deciding to click on it.

Myth

{Reach a 1000 points in all stats (Exception: Mapping Stat}

Rewards: 5000 SC, 10000 EXP, and 1000 Stat Points

Clay kept walking, already used to such absurd numbers.

'I'll save this for later, I've gotten strong enough as is, I probably wont need the extra power.... right?' Clay thought, unsure if he should claim the rewards or not.

As clay was wondering whether he should claim or not, a light has lit up in front of him, surprising him for a moment.

The lights were actually little globes of mana, lighting up to create a path, a path that Clay believes leads to his dorm room.

Clay turned around and called out to Josh.

"Hey, Josh. Come here quick."

"What is it?" Josh caught up with Clay quickly.

"Do you also see these lights?" Clay asked, gesturing to the balls of mana in front of him, leading towards the right.

"Yeah, why?" Josh replied, puzzled.

"I think these lead to our rooms. We might get separated." Clay sighed, still he was hoping that wouldn't happen, the chances of being put in the same dorm room as Josh was very low as there were many other students besides them.

"Well, I guess we can only find out." Josh sighed.
