Baldwin's Mansion
The book slipped from Savannah's grip, it's pages flutter before meeting down with the wooden floor. The sudden silence seemed to juxtapose sharply with the frantic pounding of her thoughts. Blood was a surgeon's constant companion in her world—the presence that got so at home she could almost rip it free and disregard its grasp. But this was different. The pages, once crisp with words, now soaked in a deep dark red as if every word had been bleeding.
Savannah's breath caught in her throat but she wasn't the type of to get scared easily not by blood, she crouched down and reached for the book, her soft hand were to grab the hold of it, but stopped herself at the last second as she wondered what she'd find undernearth those blood stained pages. A chill ran down her spine. Her thoughts were running riot- Was this some sort of message? A warning? Or something worse?
"What happened?" Before Savannah could take the book or make anything more into her mind, Blaze came toward her with a voice that sounded worried.
He crouches down as well and looked at her, Savannah moved her gaze to him as well, for a moment she did not say anything was just staring at him with pure silence, "Savannah?" Blaze called her name to get her sense back to himself from her thoughts.
"Why there's blood inside a book?" She questioned him instead with a face that showed nothing but confusion? disbelief? Maybe she was thinking of the wprst scenario possible, and all those inclued Blaze.
Blaze looked at her and then down at the book lay down at the wooden floor, Savananh just watched him looking for an answer, he takes the book in his hands, flutter it open "Sorry Savannah," Blaze started talking as his eyes again meet hers.
Savannah confused.
"Some birds broke into the study yesterday and one of my men might have injured him." He explained, and Savannah finally blinked. Was it birds blood?
"What do you mean harm?" Savannah asked, "Did he killed it?" she added.
Blaze didn't say anything, he just stared at her, "No, he's safe," he added, "I won't let such thing happen to that innocent creature." he smiled.
Ten Minutes Later
"Where are we going?" Savannah questioned "We're almost there." He answered as he walked ahead of her, earlier when they were in his study room, he had told her to come with him to somewhere said he had something that could help me feel better and maybe happy too.
Now she wondered what could it be that could really make her happy?
So we are in the passage which had long dark path as the night itself, until the ray of light comes from the straight ahead where they walked. "Here" Blaze said, and Savannah confused looked around, scanned but had only one lamp lit, she then looked back at Blaze.
It seemed he understood her confusion, gestured to one of his man standing at the corner whom she hadn't notice until now, the door was plain white. And now the door was wide opened, Blaze extends his hand in a offer to go inside, but it looked she hesitated as she just stood at her place not moving.
A soft low chuckle from Blaze, and he walked in, and "Come, Savannah." call her to come in as well, she too after a moment of hesitation slowly walked inside.
The room was small but spacious enough, but it did not had a bed nor anything else like usually available in any bedroom, and her eyes then landed on a small tree inside that was making its way out through a small window on other end of the room, and there was a small cozy wooden house placed on the floor on the soft mat it looked nothing but some kids room but had some difference.
Blaze walked toward that wooden house.
He bent down to his knees and extended his hand inside, but what was in his hand stunned Savannah when he takes his ahnd back.
He walked back toward her and "Now tell me, didn't this make you happy?" He asked.
Savannah watched that small creature in his hand, a smile crept across her lips. "Want to hold?" he asked, and she nods in yes, as her full attention was already caught by that bird.
His fingers lightly touched Savannah's while handing her the bird, but as her all mind was on the bird she did not really know what had happened whereas Blaze? He felt everything.
"This is so fluffy," Savannah mostly talked to herself. Dove was sure fluffy, and Savannah could tell that it's getting fed well, her eyes fell to his injured side, it was indeed hurt but not dead, it was enough for Savannah to feel happy and relieved
"Thankyou for saving him. Said Savannah.
"You don't need to thank me Savannah, I just did what I had to do." He responed back.
Savannah looked up at him and saw his eyes already looking at her, she wondered if he was an angel in disguish,. He was truly a gentleman, she gave a small smile to him and then her eyes back to the bird in her palm.
Later That Evening
It was around eight in the evening, almost time for Savannah to head home. She scanned the massive yard, in search for her precious car, but it was nowhere in sight. She walked a little further, still no sign of it.
"Are you looking for someone?" a voice beside her asked. Savannah turned to see the same guy who had helped on the first day. "Ah, yeah," she said "I'm searching for my car, which I left here the day before yesterday." The helpful guy nodded and offered to assist in the search.
"Do you know where it is?" She questioned thinking he might know, he semmed to think for a moment.
"Sure, Boss asked us to handle it, so it's in the garage," he said. Savannah nodded and politely asked, "Could you please help me retrieve my car? I need to get home quickly."
"Yea-" he was cut off by Blaze's voice as he walked down the stairs to join them in the yard. "What happened?" he asked. "Nothing. I was just asking him to get me my car," She explained, looking at the guy in front. "You're taking your car?" Blaze questioned.
"Yes," she answers.
"You look in hurry?" Blaze asked as she keeps checking her wrist watch.
"I need to stop by somewhere which would take a good amount of time," Savannah replied, not wanting to waste anymore time.
"Date?" Blaze asked, catching her off guard. She looked at him, puzzled. Did it seem like that? she thought.
"No," she answered again, feeling a bit confused by his sudden question. She saw him sigh.
"Alright then, let me help you with your car," Blaze further said.
"Come with me," Blaze repeated. Instead of walking, he remained in his place. Savannah, taking the hint, nodded and walked ahead. "Can I know your name?" she asked before continuing. She didn't want to forget to ask the name of the guy who still stood there.
He first glanced at Blaze and then back to Savannah, "Elijah."
Savannah's House
Today was quite hectic, but surprisingly, it turned out to be enjoyable. Savannah gained a deeper understanding of Blaze through today's experiences.
Previously, she had formed a negative impression of him, thinking of him as arrogant, cold, and mysterious.
However, today, she saw a different side of him. He displayed generosity, kindness, and authenticity, which completely changed her perspective. As she thought about him, a smile naturally spread across her face, but then she remembered the impending departure from this house.
She made her way to her study table, hoping to find the note Mrs. King had left hee, only to discover that it was missing from her purse. It was gone!
