The Nightmare let out a harsh, raspy snarl and scratched at stone floor in enormous paws. The chamber shook at being close to it.
Yami craned back his head, darkness closing in upon him thickly. His senses condemning him—heavy and urgent—the way in which this monstrosity towered over the Dungeon Guardian. Quicker. More cunning. More deadly.
But that just made it better.
The Fenrir's eyes flared in evil brilliance and in a split second afterward—
BOOM!
It vanished, moving at a velocity no object in its class should ever be able to.
Yami's eyes narrowed. Holy heck, it's quick—!
Phantom Step.
His body flashed at once as claws ripped through his afterimage, and impact rattled stone below them.
Reappearing on Fenrir's blind side, Yami had no qualms—
SHING!
Both scythes descended in an X-shape across its neck.
But—
CLANG!
The blades touched but slightly touched Fenrir's fur.
"What in the entire world is this thing made of?" shouted Yami.
The monster lashed around, flapping at him with its tail.
This time, he was prepared.
Phantom Step.
He burst forth above the Fenrir, convulsing in mid-air.
"Let's see if you can handle this."
"Reaper's Dance!"
A whirlwind storm of slashes came down upon the Fenrir, slashing down upon black mist.
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
For the very first time in history, the monstrosity let out a scream in pain and evil energy ooze out of its wounds.
Yami grinned. "Aching, are you."
But the Fenrir wasn't finished yet.
As soon as Yami fell, its shadow extended out—
"Nightmare Domain!"
The entire room plunged into darkness.
Yami's body froze for a fraction of a second, a shudder running down his back.
Something was amiss.
The dungeon wasn't dark but as if his senses were being erased. His grip on his scythes relaxed, his breathing thickened.
It was sapping his energy away.
All that he could perceive in the open area was Fenrir's glowing eyes.
Then—
A whisper.
"Die."
The monster charged and there wasn't time for Yami to react before enormous fangs came down upon him.
