Chapter 11 - A Reapers Reward

The entrance creaking open admitted a dimly-lit corridor beyond. The inside had a thick quality—to it traces remained of Nightmare Fenrir's presence.

Yami shrugged his shoulders, still humming to some remaining energy in his system from the kill. His physique had toughened and edged out—but beyond physique, he could sense some change had happened in himself.

DING!

[Skill Unlocked: Phantom Reaper]

Effect: Passively makes attacking power and movement speed for enemies targeted by the reapers will increase.

Bonus Effect: Makes the user intangible for 0.5 seconds while avoiding hits.

Warning: This skill can fatigue the body if used excessively.

Yami whistled. "That is much better."

He extended his hand while darkness churned around him. His power grew in each time he absorbed a strong soul, unlocking evermore of Death Gods' will.

And this is just the beginning.

He strode into the dungeon entrance, expecting more monsters—

But instead, he finds himself in a vast chamber.

A massive, ancient altar took center stage, battered and cracked, smoking scarlet runes encrusted upon it. Black mist wrapped around it, as if it had a sentient quality.

Yami raised his eyebrow. "Okay… That is quite ominous."

As he drew near, the altar responded in some otherworldly way, glowing. A voice, ancient and timeless, hummed in his head.

"Reaper… you have proven your worth."

Yami halted in his tracks. "Whoa. Talking altars now?"

The voice couldn't hear him.

"Take your reward… and continue your path."

Before he could ask, fog charged out and wrapped around about his right arm.

DING!

[Item Obtained: Deathforged Gauntlet]

Effect: A cursed gauntlet that enhances the power of death-related skills. Increases the damage of Reaper's Will by 20%. Additional Effect: Allows the user to store absorbed souls unleach them as attacks.

Yami's eyes sprang open in surprise as the gauntlet took shape in his hand, fitting comfortably. The metal felt cold, but pulsed with raw energy.

He clenched his hand and could feel electricity running down his arm.

A slow, creeping smile swept across his face.

"This… is going to be fun."

With a superior tool and surer method, Yami backed away from the altar. He could feel it—

A stronger dungeon had in store. Stronger souls. Stronger beasts.

And he made himself ready. Bravely, he walked out in darkness, in the footsteps of the Reaper.
