Synopsis
She was born with royal blood—but treated like dirt beneath the throne. Laraine Ashton, the illegitimate daughter of the Luthian king, was cast out at age ten. Labeled a cursed child for her mother’s low birth and her strange blue eyes, she was forced to grow up in exile, with nothing but hatred in her heart and one goal in her mind: revenge. Now, after eight long years, a letter arrives—bearing the royal seal and summoning her back. But the palace she returns to is far more dangerous than the one she remembers. Caught in a power struggle she never asked for, Laraine finds herself torn between two women: — Millis, her fiercely loyal maid, her only family—and maybe something more. — Vienna, a ruthless royal knight, once her sworn enemy… and the woman who just might shatter her world. As betrayal and desire twist around her like thorns, Laraine must choose what kind of monster she’s willing to become to take back what was stolen—and whether love has a place in a heart built for vengeance. She was never meant to wear the crown. But if they won’t give it to her… She’ll take it and burn them all.

Chapter 1 - Chapter one: The outcast

_ _ _

 *Sigh*

Laraine sighed as she lay in her bed gazing at the celling, she was lost in a myriad of her thoughts until her thoughts were interrupted by her grumbling stomach.

'I guess it's time to get some food' she muttered inwardly as she stood up from her bed gazing around her humble room till her gaze landed on the mirror by her dressing table.

Her long blue hair cascaded down her shoulders, her unkept bangs covered her pale blue eyes, white pale skin like porcelain and soft facial features. Laraine groaned as she made her way to the kitchen to find something to eat after all she had no maids around except for her personal maid Millis.

But Millis wasn't here at the moment, she made her way through her shallow kitchen but there wasn't anything she could whip up for her self to eat.

Laraine sank into the kitchen floor curling her self into a ball, 'why?' she asked her self what mistake did she make?, was is her fault that her mother was a maid while her father was a king? did she ask to be born?... then why, why was she going through all of this?.

Laraine Ashton, the abandoned princess of the Luthian empire born to the king of Luthia by a mother of low birth. Laraine's mother died during child birth due to some complications, as soon as she was born she was labeled as an outcast because of her different and distinct features. All the children of the king all had honey blonde hair and emerald eyes while she had blue hair an blue eyes just like her mother... but was any of that her fault?

She used to live in the king's palace just like her siblings but her evil stepmother kicked her out, labelling her as a cursed demon bringing calamities upon the royal family... and what did her so called father do? he agreed with his evil empress and kicked her out of the palace sending her to live in the mountains all by her self at the young age of ten but at least she had Millis,

her sole confidant and her mother figure she was very important to Laraine since she took care of her since she was born Millis took care of Laraine, gave her love when she needed it most, gave her the uttermost care and scolded her when she deserved it. Millis was her only family. While the royal family never regarded her as family, heck she wasn't even human in their eyes but that never bothered Laraine for a minute she had no feelings for them she only harbored hatred. A hatred so strong that she despised them to the bones, she only had one goal and that was Revenge

''My lady!'' Millis barged in holding basket of groceries a letter and a which had the Luthian royal family seal on it and Laraine groaned dejectedly ''What does it say?''

''I think you should take a look yourself" Millis smiled weakly and she passed the letter to Laraine.

''Hmm'' she smirked as she ran her thumb over the red seal feeling the texture over her finger before she tore the envelope to check the contents.

Laraine ran her eyes over the letter reading it

word for word

Before her smirk widened showing her predatory teeth. Millis shivered lightly when she saw Laraine's predatory smile ''What does it say my lady?''

''Well it seems like my 'father' wants to see my face after eight years'' Laraine said with a smile but her cold eyes said otherwise on the other hand Millis's eyes widened slightly ''Did he state the reason my lady?''

''No he didn't'' Laraine said as she crumpled the letter,

''when is he expecting you?'' Millis raised eyebrows as she brought out some pots and pans from the cupboard.

''Well the letter didn't actually say when, it just says that he requests my presence'' Laraine shrugged and Millis's frown deepened.

''Will you go?'' Millis tilted her head, her brown eyes boring into Laraine's blue eyes and Laraine nodded

''Well of course~, my father wants to see me after all''.

''Am i coming with you?'' Millis couldn't help but ask, she was worried and confused about the sudden request for Laraine's presence she couldn't help but have a shred of fear

'what if it was a trap?!', since her father never requested for her presence until now.. then something must be wrong.

Laraine noticed Millis's internal turmoil and she smiled softly

''you're not coming with Mill, the letter states for me to come alone'' and Millis nodded not pursuing the topic further.

There was a mixture worry and understanding in Millis's eyes but she soon gave up when she saw the newfound determination in Laraine's eyes ''oh okay'' she said weakly as she continued with her cooking.

Millis sighed inwardly as she chopped some vegetables 'Laraine oh Larine' but she was jolted when she felt a pair of arms wrapping around her waist

 ''Kyahh! what are you doing?''

Millis nearly jumped away if it weren't for Laraine's grip

''stay still'' Laraine whispered into her ear sending bolts of energy through out her whole body and as if she was spellbound Millis stopped struggling leaning into Laraine's embrace. Laraine's expression softened as she felt Millis nestling in her arms

''I'll be fine Mill don't worry about me okay?'' Laraine said softly, her warm breath permeating into Millis's ear sending shivers down the poor woman's body

''mhmm'' she nodded slowly not knowing what to say and Laraine smiled placing her face in the crook of her neck, the faint scent of lavender permeating into her nostrils before she moved up to plant a kiss on her cheek

''Thanks for understanding~''

Laraine released her as she went back to her room while Millis on the other hand was left dumfounded.

It happened too fast for her to react, she could on move her trembling hand to caress where Laraine pecked and blush 'Laraine!'

The luthian castle

Far from the mountains, in the heart of the empire, a grand throne room glimmered under the amber glow of chandeliers. Velvet drapes lined the walls, and polished marble floors stretched for miles, it had an intimidating aura that made people tremble.

At the center sat a man on a towering iron throne.

King Walter Ashton

Blonde, broad-shouldered, and striking, he looked no older than his mid-thirties. Emerald eyes glinted beneath a golden crown. He was the very image of a perfect king—if not for the chilling emptiness in his gaze.

''Your majesty, your message has been delivered'' a voice came from the shadows behind the iron throne and king Walter nodded expressionlessly acknowledging the anonymous figure's feat.

Marvelous…" he murmured, a cruel smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

The figure bowed and halted for a second before vanishing into the darkness.
