Chapter 6 - Woodland rabbits

The real fight began right after Yanga killed the wolf. Everything changed the mood in the forest shifted, the wind seemed to stop, and the other wolves froze, staring at him.

In that moment, Yanga realized there were only about eleven wolves left, including the alpha. Counting the two he had already slain, there were thirteen in total too few for a full pack.

This had to be a scouting party, which meant a much larger pack was likely on its way. If they were to come, he was as good as dead.

Fast. Faster. That was all running through Yanga's head. He had to finish quickly and get out before the Howling Wind Wolves arrived. He moved like the wind itself, rushing at the wolves with his sword flashing.

His strategy was simple never get surrounded. He kept moving, running nonstop, slashing at any wolf that got too close, always aiming for the head.

These wolves weren't ordinary prey they were sharper, adapting to his tactics and dodging his swings. Alongside his movement technique, Yanga focused on the Desolate Sword Art, which had three stages: "The Drop Falls on the Desert" and "Rain Falls on the Desert," followed by a final stage fall of a storm. He had trained long and hard but never reached initial completion despite months of training.

He fought for his life with every swing, yet his hit never landed correctly. The wolf always slipped away at the last second, and even when the blade connected, it was just a shallow cut. So Yanga focused on the Desolute sword art, losing himself in sword art and letting his sword move freely.

Slash after slash, thrust after thrust, met resistance until Yanga felt it a moment like a single drop falling from the sky. But this drop carried intent, of a single drop battling a desert's drought.

One slice, and a head fell. Another, and then another three wolves down in three quick strikes sent a shiver through the rest.

They bristled, wary now. the alpha let out a long sorrowful howl which was followed by the rest of the Howling Wind Wolves A chill crept up Yanga's spine.

The reckless wolf was calling for reinforcements. Time was running out. He had to end this fast and get away.

There was no time for clever plans or strategy only the fight remained. Either Yanga killed all the wolves and escaped, or they held him until reinforcements arrived.

He shook off everything else and charged straight for the alpha, sword gleaming like a drop of water after years without rain. They clashed bang! and again, trading blow for blow.

Then another bang. As Yanga opened his tenth meridian, he grew faster, sharper, better. At first, he was losing to the alpha wolf, but with his tenth meridian unlocked, they fought as equals, their strikes evenly matched.

The battle grew so fierce that the other wolves kept their distance, knowing they couldn't handle Yanga's new strength.

Yet Yanga realized he was still losing. Equal in power, yes, but the alpha's greater battle experience was tipping the scales. If it went on like this, he'd die.

He needed something, anything to turn the tide. That's when the idea hit him.

He had something, something he received as a gift from Christina Pina. After spending time with her, he realized something. Since Christina visited Old Man Hancock's villa almost every day, Yanga saw her as a sort of student, learning from him how to concoct pills and other such things.

Over the past six months, Christina had given Yanga a few pills to keep him safe, a kind of insurance. Before he left, she handed him a few "healing" pills and a strange liquid, claiming it was special.

In truth, it was poison a deadly poison at that. According to her, it was a poison that could kill anything below foundation establishment.

Yanga had prepared for this, soaking a few daggers in the poison. Now, seeing the chance, he pulled one out and stabbed the wolf in the eye, trading blow for blow.

The wolf's claws slammed into his chest, sending him flying, but Yanga didn't care. Rolling to his feet, he charged straight at the alpha, fighting despite his injured eye and the pain. The wolf began fighting defensively, which weakened it slightly, giving Yanga an advantage.

As the fight dragged on, the poison began to take effect, slowing the alpha more and more until it slipped up. With one swift strike, Yanga beheaded it, then quickly stored the body and head in his storage ring.

With the alpha dead, the remaining Howling Wind Wolves scattered, and so did Yanga. He had no time to linger the rest of the pack could appear at any moment. Choosing a direction where he hoped he wouldn't run into more wolves, he took off running.

He ran for hours until he was utterly exhausted. Eventually, he found a large tree in a small clearing, pulled a shovel from his spacer ring, and began to dig. The hole wasn't deep just deep enough to fit him entirely so he covered it up using various means.

Before climbing in, he scattered scent masking powder around the area, over the hole, and on himself. Settling into the hole, he took some healing pills and finally passed out.

When he woke, three days had passed. Fortunately, thanks to the healing pills, his injuries were completely gone.

Climbing out of the hole, Yanga took his first deep breath of a new day, grateful to have survived the life-or-death battle.

After the fight with the Howling Wind Wolves, Yanga had run without direction, just fleeing aimlessly. Now, he wasn't sure where he was.

Though he could see the massive wall of the Infinite Basin, but his plans had been thrown into disarray, leaving him uncertain of his exact location and what to do next as he chose his course through the infinite basin specifically because he wanted to hunt certain beasts and collect specific spirit herbs.

To get a better sense of where he was, Yanga climbed the large tree under which he had dug a hole. Reaching the top, he could see his surroundings clearly, though he still couldn't tell exactly where he was.

At least he knew the way home, so he climbed down and began walking deeper into the infinite basin. While walking, something caught his eye.

The trees in this forest were usually spread out, with several meters between them, but ahead he saw a dense cluster packed closely together. Curious, he approached, short swords at his side.

As he got closer, he noticed these trees were young and too well-managed and tall for their age, at about three meters, yet clearly less than ten years old, unlike the ancient, centuries-old trees that filled the rest of the forest.

Using his sword, he cut through the dense growth and was stunned by what lay beyond. At first, he thought it was a patch of flowers, but upon closer inspection, he realized they were high-quality medicinal herbs.

Among them was something truly surprising a green rabbit. Yanga remembered reading about this creature in Old Man Hancock's vast library. In Mhlanga Village, it was mistakenly called a wild beast.

However, from the Heaven and Earth encyclopedia he inherited from the Boundless Sword Sage, Yanga knew this green rabbit was not a wild beast at all, but actually according to the encyclopidea is a Wood spirit spirit are very different fro beast beast are born other beast like how humans become pregnant and give birth to their child but spirits are different as their are the childrem of the heaven and earth.

Each one of them is born from nothing

At first glance, they might look like ordinary flesh and blood, but they're not. They're made of pure condensed spirit Qi that just happens to resemble flesh and blood.

Among such beings are the little green Woodland rabbits, a rare and precious species.

The Heaven and Earth Encyclopedia notes that these rabbits are highly sought after by the finest top sects in the world for one special reason they are natural caretakers of the forest.

Bring them into a garden, and it will become the finest in all the lands. When Yanga spotted a pair of these woodland rabbits, he was so stunned that he trembled with excitement.

He could hardly believe his fortune finding not one, but two Woodland rabbits was beyond incredible.

For Seedling World, a realm devoted to farming, winning over this pair could mean prosperity unlike anything he'd ever dreamed of.
