Chapter 9 - THE ENCHANTED COAT

'It's P.T.A day, your parents and guardians have been sent notices on the meeting, so at noon you are to converge to the large hall' Professor Erebus said to the first year students who wore sceptical looks on their faces, the bang of the class door was heard, every head turned to find the source of the noise, it was the pink eyed boy.

'late again? It's the third time this week, need i remind you mister that you also ran this late through out last week, you are exhausting your grace' said professor Erebus he was gliding as usual as he held his hands crossed behind him, his gray eyes glinting. It's been one week and a few days since the summoning, Lu had started running late class since then and the trio really never asked him about it ever since he told them not to worry about it, in fact they rarely had Time for chats like they used to before, Sophia was no more her usual all knowing self, she was now reserved and rarely talked these days, Amara although still having chance to talk always bolted off right after class sessions, Lu always late and was now Distant, the trio were going through personal crisis.

'I am so sorry sir, i will try coming earlier subsequently' said Lu as the class including Amara and Sophia gazed at him for an answer.

'Are you sure you are okay?' asked professor Erebus with a hint of concern in his voice.

'Yes i am' Lu replied.

' Well i don't think so and i am going to have that talk with your parents when they arrive today, take a seat' said the professor, Lu took a seat right beside Amara who sat directly at the back close to door, she did that nowadays because of Lu's lateness, Sophia sat at the front.

'what's up?' Amara asked as Lu took his seat.

'Nothing much really, just a lot going on' he replied

'Care to share?'

'Not really'

'Okay' siad Amara finally, they spoke nothing to each other afterwards until the end of lessons where a quick 'bye' was muttered to each other, they forgot they were meant to convere at the hall.

Amara's Pov.

Stepping outside the class, i noticed that the corridors were busty, students were marching, all flowing towards one building, i literally didn't know where it was, but you know what they say "follow the crowd" and so i did, joining the flow towards the hall where our parents were waiting for us, i imagined who was going to come for me,Mom was busy running the coven and Dad being human may not be allowed into a magic space as prestigious as this, so i probabably would join my cousin, where my aunt was, as i walked towards the hall which was located outside the main school building or the school entirely because it felt like we walked through a rift or portal into another dimension, this part of the surrounding was gloomy and bustling with magic aura too and then i saw the hall, it wasn't a hall after all it was a castle, tall and genuinely made of bricks it was insanely huge.

'whoa' i muttered, i heard gasps and shrieks from other first years around me who walked in at the same time too, we all walked to the large golden door at the entrance and through it was an insanely lit hall, ancient but steady, wooden chairs were mounted around the hall, it was really large from the inside.

'Amara!!' i heard, the voice was familiar, deep and stubby, it was my Dad but how?, Dad was a human with literally no ties to magic whatsoever, Mom said she had met him on one of her escapades at Egypt, he was a tourist and had stumbled into one of the Pyramids by chance , he had never seen inside one before and as he was about to take a picture of his discovery, she had blown the camera up and then one thing led to another and here i was, am i a demi human? Technically yes, practically no, i was too powerful for that, Mom's genes ove rid that part of me.

'Dad!' i screamed as i saw him, his tall langy figure, he wore a red coat and his thin specs too, they were his favourite fit, we rushed towards each other and enveloped ourselves in a hug.

'how've you been?' he asked, still holding me tight.

'I have been thriving, how are you?' i asked, secretly appreciating his grip.

'Everyone is okay, Your Mom sends her regards my love...Sorry she couldn't make it'

'No no.... I understand am just glad you are here..' i said,

'But wait....how are you here?' i said quickly unwrapping my self from the hug and gazed into his eyes.

'Oh, Your Mom gave enchanted my coat with enough mana to get me through the barrier' he replied smiling.

'Really? Didn't know that was possible' i said genuinely, but yet again it's mom the all powerful leader of the daughters of midnight, so i wasn't really surprised.

' where is your Cousin?' he asked scanning the hall, i did so too and immediately caught a glimpse of Lu and his parents, they were so....shiny. Lu's mom had blonde hair and pointy ears she looked like a driag, very beautiful and slender, she had the same eye with Lu too bright pink, his dad was quite handsome from the side view which was all i could see from where i stood, they were conversing Cheerfully, i looked around in hope to find Sophia too but i couldn't see her nor did i see my cousin.

' i can't see them' i said to my father.

'please take your seats the meeting is about to commence' a voice said, as it echoed through the halls.
