Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

"Nothing had prepared me for this moment, my own husband divorcing me. Leaving me in the trenches of my emotions, his warm embrace and touch is all I ever needed.

We were supposed to have our first child together, even though It has been unsuccessful all these years, we made promises of forever. But how, it's all going down the drain-" Lisa sobbed silently.

"Lisa snap out of it, check the oven, the cake will burn" Alice exclaimed half worried.

"Oh yeah I was just thinking," she responded with a small smile.

Alice took a long look at Lisa, seeing her own best friend in such a pit of sorrow.

Suddenly She put down the pans, Alice had enough. It was not fair to Lisa.

"Lisa I want to tell you something, I don't want you to get hurt but I love you so I have to tell you." Alice said

"What is it hun?" Lisa said.

"Well I hope you don't hate me but your husband is having an affair with my sister, Melanie. She is his old ex-girlfriend from highschool." Alice trembled as she spoke.

Her face fell down as her voice echoed the words that she never wanted to utter because they would crash Lisa.

"What?!! How come I am just finding out now?" Lisa asked half angrily.

"I found out a few minutes ago when my sister called. He is with her right now at some hotel."

She said,

Lisa saw the sadness in Alice's eyes. In as much as she wanted to be upset, she knew Alice meant well.

"I think you shouldn't sign the papers, fight for your marriage because he can not just break it off like you didn't share lives together" Alice said. " I'll speak to Melanie, maybe she will listen when I tell her the truth that he's already married. She may back off, but then again your marriage was broadcasted everywhere. I am very sure she knows about you. I'm sorry Lisa I … I am … sooo. Sorry…" Alice sobbed.

"Alice… Alice… it's ok, since it's a divorce he wants then he will get his divorce." Lisa assured.

The following day, Tony called Lisa. She was still with Alice, who stayed to comfort her.

*Phone rings*

" Tony is calling," Alice told Lisa worriedly.

"what? Maybe he wants to reconsider his decision." Lisa hoped.

Lisa hesitantly picked the call.

"Hello," she said.

"Hi, so listen. I don't want to prolong this conversation because I'm a busy man, as you know. Did you sign the papers?" He said at the end of the line.

"Tony, I….i haven't"

"what?! You're so pathetic, when I come over today I want to find those papers signed. I'll be coming with my lawyers so you better be ready. I don't want to be with you anymore!" Tony yelled and cut the call.

Alice looked at Lisa, her eyes beaming with tears. She watched as Lisa broke down. She stood up and took the papers from the drawer by the dressing mirror where she kept them.

She opened her phone and saw social media notifications of Tony and Melanie's news, pictures and other information regarding their announced wedding. She stared at her phone then at the papers, with a heavy heart. She took out her pen.

"Lisa, are you sure about this?" Alice asked, her voice echoed with concern.

" Yes, I won't allow him to hurt me anymore, since he wants freedom. He will get his freedom from me" Lisa spat.

She signed the papers and tossed them on the dressing mirror and broke down in tears.

Her whole world was crashing down. Her man, the love of her life had left her, now all she has is her best friend. The only person who has stood by her since childhood. Lisa being an only child from her mom, she lacked affection and belonging.

Her mom remarried and she never really knew who her father was. Alice is the only person who made her feel like she belonged.

When she met Tony, he became her world, her soulmate and now he was gone.

****

Later that evening Tony showed up at the house, with the lawyers and Melanie hand in hand. She wore her strong signature perfume and a high ponytail, her presence suffocated Lisa. The red lipstick and a side devilish smirk.

They sat by Tony's office in the house and the silence that filled the room was unmatched.

"Well since you have all signed the papers, the divorce proceeding is now in process." The lawyer said.

Tony glared at Lisa with hate, she showed no emotion.

"At least now, I can be with the woman of my dreams. Someone to give me children. Unlike some selfish woman here," Tony snared.

Melanie chuckled upon hearing those words from Tony, like they gave her immense satisfaction.

Lisa could not respond, she was devastated. But showed no emotion.

"How come she doesn't seem bothered?" He thought.

"Well since we are officially not together, my future bride and I will be leaving" Tony mocked Lisa.

"Thank you ex Mrs Williams, or I mean Lisa Young, for giving me this wonderful day, now I can be with my soulmate. Tony and I belong together. " Melanie Thompson spat.

Alice glared at Melanie, she couldn't believe her own sister would do such a thing. All in all, she kept her composure, she only tagged along for Lisa. To be there for her through this dark time of her life.

"Melanie, can I have a word with you?" Alice said. " In private"

"Sure sis"

They walked out of the room, leaving Lisa, Tony and the lawyer to finish their final discussion.

"What the hell is this all about? Are you out of your mind? Lisa is like our sister!" Alice half yelled.

"Oh come on, do I look like I care? I am getting the man I want. He is super rich, he is a millionaire and he can afford my kind of lifestyle. Of course I don't love him but hey, a girl has needs" she snared.

Alice scoffed in disgust. "You will get your own karma real soon"

"The only thing I'm getting, is being pregnant with Tony's baby. That's right, I'll get pregnant for him". Melanie spoke, her voice filled with arrogance.

"This isn't over, you'll get what you deserve very soon" Alice said.

"You mean a finished career like yours? I guess no, I am ten times more popular and richer now, there is nothing you can do to bring me down now." Melanie spat.

"You are unbelievable!" Alice exclaimed.

"I know right" she chuckled nonchalantly.

Alice stomped off angrily, she walked in the office and found Tony with his lawyers concluding the meeting. She gazed at Lisa and saw her well composed, almost like she's trying her best to hide her sorrow. She was doing a pretty good job.

"All done?" Alice asked angrily between her teeth.

"Yes" Tony responded rudely.

"My love, can we go? Let's go get that Louis Vuitton you promised me this morning" Melanie said.

Her evil gaze teased Lisa, making her suffer imaginable pain.

"This isn't over!" Alice mouthed her words to Tony.

He rolled his eyes in disgust and hugged Melanie.

Tony rolled his eyes and held Melanie by her waist. Pecked her lips and smiled, clearly mocking Lisa.

"I want to see you suffer Lisa, you don't deserve even a coin from me. I'll make sure you are homeless, after all this is Melanie's house now." He snared.

"You bastard!" Lisa spat angrily. "I put in equal shares and efforts on this house too"

"Which efforts? Last time I checked, all property is in my name, you have nothing already. " Tony spat.

"How's that possible-" before she could finish her words. Tony dropped the last bomb on Lisa.

"You have until the end of this week to leave my house. My bride will be the new owner tomorrow." He spat, kissed Melanie on the lips and she giggled. As they teased Lisa.

Lisa felt devastated, but she couldn't allow him to treat her that way.

"Just let it be sweetie, he isn't worth your energy. I just wish I could kick him where it hurts" Alice frowned.

"It's okay, he will get what he deserves." Lisa smirked.

"Oh and Lisa, make sure not to steal anything as you pack out of this house, you're known for talking about what's not yours" Tony mocked silently.
