Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Katsuragi Kokoro's eyes fluttered open as the sound of his alarm clock pierced through the silence of his room. He groggily reached out to turn it off, the familiar beeping finally ceasing. He let out a deep breath, feeling the weight of his blankets and the softness of his pillow.

As he sat up in bed, Kokoro stretched his arms above his head, arching his back and extending his spine. He yawned, trying to shake off the remnants of sleep. His bed, positioned in the middle of the room, was a comfortable sanctuary, but he knew he couldn't linger there for long.

To his right, in the corner of the room, stood a desk, cluttered with his monitor, computer, phone, and tablet. A lamp sat on the edge of the desk, casting a warm glow over the space. The window in front of the desk was covered with curtains, filtering the morning sunlight and casting a soft, golden light into the room.

Beside the desk, a bookshelf stood tall, filled with novels of various genres. Fantasy, comedy, romance, reincarnation, slice of life, and horror books were all jumbled together, reflecting Kokoro's eclectic tastes. On top of the bookshelf, a collection of anime girl figurines watched over the room, their plastic smiles frozen in place.

At the front, a mirror hung on the wall, reflecting the room's contents. To the left of the mirror, a door led to the rest of the house. And in the left corner of the room, a cabinet stood as part of the wall, storing Kokoro's belongings.

As Kokoro finished stretching, he stood up and walked over to the window. He pushed aside the curtains, revealing the morning sunlight, and opened the window to let in some fresh air. The cool breeze carried the scent of morning dew and blooming flowers into the room.

"Ah, fresh air," Kokoro said to himself, taking a deep breath. "I should start preparing for my first day of high school."

As he looked around his room, Kokoro's gaze fell upon the cluttered desk and the scattered books on the shelf. He chuckled to himself, thinking about how he needed to tidy up his space.

With a sense of determination, Kokoro began to clean his room, putting away his belongings and dusting off the furniture. As he worked, he thought about the upcoming school year and what it would bring.

Once he finished cleaning, Kokoro left his room and stepped into the hallway. He saw three doors in the right corner of the hallway: his parents' room, his little sister's room, and a single door that led to the bathroom. He snickered as he glanced at his little sister's room, knowing she was probably still fast asleep.

"Yui's still sleeping, huh?" Kokoro said to himself, smiling. "I'll have to wake her up soon."

As he walked towards the bathroom, located beside his little sister's room, Kokoro opened the door and stepped inside. The bathroom was equipped with a bathtub a shower and a toilet, the mirror above the sink reflected Kokoro's sleepy face.

Katsuragi Kokoro stood at an impressive height of 1.76 meters, his athletic build evident in his perfectly slim physique. His black hair was neatly styled, framing his face in a way that accentuated his features. His black eyes sparkled with a hint of curiosity, giving him an endearing and intelligent appearance.

"High school life is going to be different, I suppose," Kokoro thought to himself as he washed his face. "I'll have to balance my studies and extracurricular activities. But I'm excited to meet new people and make new friends."

As he finished washing up, Kokoro felt more alert and awake. He dried his face with a towel and stepped out of the bathroom, ready to face the day ahead.

Kokoro's stomach growled as he descended to the first floor, the aroma of food wafting from the kitchen like a warm invitation. He quickened his pace, his eyes scanning the room as he entered. The table was set with an assortment of dishes, and his mother stood at the stove, her hands moving with practiced ease as she cooked.

"Good morning, Kokoro," his mother said, smiling as she noticed his arrival.

"Good morning, Mom," Kokoro replied, his eyes scanning the spread of dishes before him. "Smells amazing."

His mother nodded, her eyes twinkling. "I'm glad you're excited. Don't forget to wake up Yui. She's going to be late for school."

Kokoro nodded, his mind already turning to the task ahead. He headed to Yui's room, his footsteps light on the stairs. As he reached her door, he knocked softly, his grin growing as silence greeted him.

He slipped inside, his eyes adjusting to the dim light. Yui lay in bed, her face serene as she murmured something in her sleep. Kokoro's grin widened as he approached her, his voice barely above a whisper. "Wake up, little idiot."

Yui's eyes fluttered open, her expression shifting from peaceful to annoyed in an instant. "Wha! What do you mean by little idiot Big Brother!" she asked, her voice husky from sleep.

Kokoro chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Mom told me to wake you up. You're going to be late for school."

Yui sat up, rubbing her eyes. "Don't change the subject big brother!" Yui staring fiercely at his stupid big brother heaved a sigh of annoyance "You could've just called me from outside the room. You didn't have to sneak in here, scare me and call me an idiot."

Kokoro leaned against the bedpost, his grin unwavering. "Where's the fun in that? Besides, it's payback for all those times you slapped me awake during middle school."

Yui's eyes narrowed, her voice taking on a teasing tone. "That was just a little tap. You're still sore about it?"

Kokoro laughed, the sound low and warm. "Sore? I'm just getting my revenge. Now, get up and get ready for school."

Yui rolled her eyes, but a small smile played on her lips. "Fine, Big Brother. I'll get up. But don't think this is the end of it."

Kokoro chuckled, pushing off from the bedpost. "Spoken like a 3rd rate villain, little sister."

As he turned to leave, Yui's voice stopped him. "Big Brother?"

"Yes?" Kokoro turned back, his eyes questioning.

Yui's smile grew, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "You're going to pay for this."

Kokoro's grin widened, his heart racing with anticipation. "I'm looking forward to it."

With that, he left Yui's room, feeling satisfied with the morning's events. The sound of Yui's laughter followed him out the door, a warm and comforting sound that filled his heart with joy.
