Chapter 20 - 20. Relapse trauma.

The car driven by Daniel Jiang cruised through the busy highway in Beijing, weaving through the heavy afternoon traffic as most workers and schoolchildren were making their way home using both public and private transportation.

Chelsea sat still in the passenger seat. Aside from her luxury handbag, she clutched a referral letter—containing psychiatric medical records detailing diagnoses, therapy history, and medical interventions from the age of eight to twenty-five. That folder felt like a dark memory left behind by her former psychiatrist in the Netherlands.

She hadn't even brought it with her when she decided to marry Jonas Li, but perhaps it was a premonition—one that led her adoptive parents to entrust the documents to Daniel Jiang, including her last batch of medication. Her SSRI had been tapered off at age twenty-two, and prazosin was stopped completely at twenty.

"Uncle Jiang."

"Yes?"

"Turn around. I want to go home."
