I sighed as I pulled myself up from my bed. My tarnished brass-colored hair is a mess since I let it down from my usual ponytail. I had barely slept since the room I was given was far from what I was used to. That being a real bed, pillow, and blanket. Not a patch of grass or a straw sleeping mat, and Torrent as my pillow. So I had not slept the entire night.
Speaking of Torrent, they were currently asleep within the whistle ring. How torrent could sleep within the ring, I don't know. Then again, I'm not sure if Torrent is a boy or a girl. And I'm not keen on finding out. I'd rather not get stomped to death.
Sighing, I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. Removing the cloth clothing I took from a bastard named Patches. I remember warning him that if he crossed me too many times, well, you get what I'm saying. As I stepped into the shower, a thing of beauty in my eyes, I turned the hot water on and took a nice and long, hot shower. Twenty minutes later, I stepped out feeling refreshed. Looking out the window of my room, the sun had risen as I was in the shower. According to the thing on my nightstand, a clock, if I remember correctly, it read just after 6:30 am.
With nothing better to do, I got dressed in my Bloody Wolf armor, just without the helmet. As I made my way outside, I found several students already out and about. Some were doing early morning jogs, some were practicing their forms, and some were just out walking around the school. I took notice of the first two groups as they were older years. As for the third group, they were mainly made up of first years.
I nodded and went about looking around the school, or rather, the castle that made up the school. Taking in the sights while mapping out the layout of the school. A habit that has kept me from dying one too many times. As I took in the school, I made sure to keep track of time using the scroll thing that I was given by Ozpin. Once it read 8:30 am, I headed off to the arena, or Amphitheater, as it was technically called.
Once I arrived, I found Glynda waiting for me. I nodded my head, and she nodded back. As I stood beside her, the Amphitheater slowly filled up with students. Some were still half asleep, while others were bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, awaiting the start of the class.
As Glynda did a head count to see if anyone was missing, I was already figuring out who to pick on for the first day. Once Glynda was done with her head count, I had pulled one out crowd. A tall, about 7-foot, and athletic-looking young man with shaved-short black hair and tanned skin, wearing Beacon's male uniform. Once my eyes landed on him, I knew he was a greatsword user.
.
"Okay, class, since this is Mr. Wolf's first day, I'll be here to help him guide you until he gets the hang of this." Glynda spoke once everyone was assembled. "Please note that this is his first time teaching such a big class. So his methods may be unorthodox."
"You there, big guy," I spoke, pointing at the teen I had noticed before. "Gear up and get ready. We're gonna have a little spar. I want to see what you got."
"Yatsuhashi Daichi," Glynda spoke when she saw who I pointed at. "Do you wish to accept this spar?"
"Yes, Miss Goodwitch," Daichi agreed without a second thought. "I'll be honored to."
.
As he went off to get changed into his combat attire, I picked through my bottomless bag. Trying to find a suitable sword to duel the teen with. Deciding to go with the Zweihander, I pulled it out of my bottomless bag, which got a few odd looks when I pulled a massive sword out of a tiny bag. When Daichi came back in his combat outfit with a Zweihander of his own, one he named Fulcrum, he nodded his head at Glynda. As Daichi turned to face me, he had a look of confusion on his face.
.
"Excuse me, Professor Wolf, are you not a fencer?" Daichi asked as he glanced at the Zweihander, "I don't believe it is wise to change your combat form just to face me."
"It's understandable," I calmly told him before Glynda could comment, "However, don't judge a blade by its sheen, or you might get cut."
.
As I said this, I picked the Zweihander up with my left hand and threw it up. When the blade came back down, I swiped it out of the air with my right hand and pointed it at him. The blade was mere inches from his face, with no wobble in my hand from the weight of the sword.
Without seeing her move, Glynda stood at the side of the arena. Prepping the Aura machine to read our aura. Once it read our aura, Glynda started the match.
Yatsuhashi Daichi, for all his worth, didn't waste a second. He started with a rising diagonal slash, meaning to knock me off balance. I merely let him push aside my sword and sent out a kick that pushed him back. I kept an easy-going smile and played with him as he attacked constantly. The only things I did were block and deflect while retaliating with simple moves, such as a punch or a kick. Very little did I actually use my Zweihander to attack him. Pokes and prods mostly.
Some students in the arena seating were openly shouting at me to take this seriously. Little did they know, I was. I wasn't just messing around, I was guaging him. Measuring his strength, footwork, and technique.
However, once he started to slow down, I showed my true strength.
