Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Weapon

All the scientists in the room froze. Shin carefully walked toward the general.

"What are you waiting for? An invitation. Seal him up now," the general ordered as she reached in her back pocket for something.

Shin immediately lunged at her. The general instinctively turned and raised her left hand at him. "Dark Magic: Tier 6 — Howling Spirit!" A wail of power pushed Shin back to the center of the room.

"Now!!" the general yelled. Eight of the scientists quickly formed a rectangle around him.

"Combination Magic: Tier 4 — Black Box!" A large black box made of mana formed around Shin, enclosing him.

Shin bashed the walls of the box and it began to shrink. Shin then screamed and the scientists struggled to hold the box.

The general searched herself. "Fuck! It's in my coat," she said, running out of the room. She moved as fast as lightning and disappeared into the hallway.

Just as quickly as she left, she returned, holding a remote in her hand. She let out a breath of relief. She pointed the remote at Shin and pressed a button.

Shin immediately stopped moving as the robotic heart in his chest stopped working and he collapsed.

The scientists finally released the spell and fell to the ground in exhaustion. The general went over to the computer and pressed a button.

A static sound rang out as she spoke, "Could you get some engineers and medics to room 462?"

"Yes, ma'am," a voice responded as the static sound rang out again. The general sighed as she went over to Shin.

When she reached him, she saw his body had reverted back to normal. She bent over and inspected his body.

She stood up straight and looked at the remains of the incubator. Wait a minute. Was he turning into his true body? she thought.

No way. His true body was too demonic to be a normal human true-body awakening, and come to think of it, his body is much bigger than before I revived him, she thought. She then walked out of the room after pressing the button on the remote again.

"This is turning out to be more of a hassle than it should be," the general said to herself as she walked down the hallway.

She reached the end of the hallway and entered the elevator. She stood, replaying the events that had unfolded.

Ding. The elevator rang and the doors opened. The general walked out and continued down a golden hallway that only had one door, right at the end.

When she reached the door she unlocked it, walked in, and locked it. She walked into her room and tossed herself onto her bed.

"Maybe the demon king's blood did this, but... I know I saw a hint of dark magic in his corpse before I took it. Aargh. Replacing the demon king is so annoying. Especially with the goddess breathing down my neck," she said to herself.

"Truth be told I probably deserved it," she continued as she chuckled, slammed her face into the pillow, and let sleep take her.
