"So… you guys are childhood friends?" Vlad asked, brows furrowed, but curiosity lingered.

Jacob giggled as he heard Vlad speak, and Bella smiled awkwardly.

"I don't remember much of my childhood," she tried to reassure, "so don't ask…"

"I won't," Vlad said. "I was just curious, didn't mean to make you… uncomfortable." He laughed lightly.

He leaned forward and grabbed a can of beer that was on the ground.

"Crazy how no one saw you grab this," he said, taking a drink. "Where did you even hide it? You're wearing shorts, man."

Jacob laughed nervously, stretched the back of his head, but he didn't answer.

Vlad saw through his act, so he didn't press further.

"Are you guys dating?" Jacob asked right away, and Bella's eyes widened when she heard him.

"What… him?" She choked on the juice she was sipping. "No way… no."

"Why did you have to say it like that?" Vlad raised his brow. "We get it."

Both Bella and Jacob laughed at his question, feeling as though it was somewhat true. But for a person like Vlad, one who was visibly too good-looking, an offense like that shouldn't apply.

So, Bella truly felt no shame or regret when saying it.

As for Jacob, he was just relieved that his suspicion was false.

Although Vlad still made him feel somewhat uneasy.

As a guy, he understood that it wasn't easy to acknowledge when another guy was visibly better than you. So, at that moment, he truly thanked the gods that Vlad was short, because for Bella, height seemed to be a contributing factor, or at least he hoped.

Vlad turned his eyes back to the screen.

The Joker, a man he now considered his favourite character, had been locked up. And the Batman, in desperation, thought it would be better to use his hands instead of interrogation.

"Want some spoilers?" Jacob, feeling the silence, asked, noting that although everyone was paying attention to what was happening, spoilers would surely lift the mood.

"Nope," Vlad was blunt. "I'll have to rewatch this from afresh. I've got a gigantic TV screen at home. Watching it there would be cinematic."

He sighed, then turned his eyes to Bella.

"But someone doesn't like it when I invite her over," he was blunt. "Do you not trust me, my love?"

Bella turned to him.

"BBB Vlad," she said. "BBB."

"Jacob!" Billy called out from the other side.

"I guess my time is up," Jacob said, standing from the floor and making his way to the door. He turned back and looked toward Bella. "Bye, Bells."

Bella, feeling somewhat affected by his words, waved back.

THUD!

The door closed as Jacob walked out.

"You know he likes you… right?" Vlad asked, but Bella only clicked her tongue. "The guy didn't even say goodbye to me."

He shook his head again, dropping his body backward and looking at the ceiling.

He clearly smelled it, the smell of a dog on him. But it wasn't as intense as the rest. It was bearable, or at least… as though it were incomplete, unfinished.

When Jacob came in, he didn't smell it the slightest, but as time passed, the smell just seemed to grow stronger.

'Is it the same thing that happened with that dog chick?' he thought to himself but later dismissed it. The girl from last time had always smelled like a dog, but Jacob smelled normal until a couple of minutes ago.

CLICK!

Bella snapped her fingers, jolting Vlad out of his thoughts.

"Charlsie is calling," she said, laughing at how he jolted his body from her snap. "I think he won a bet."

She moved to the door and walked out. Vlad quickly stood and then followed behind her.

As they reached the living room, they could tell from the man's smiling expression that he had made it big.

"Who's up for pizza?" he asked. Bella took her time to answer, which, to Vlad, held the disadvantage of being a refusal.

"I'm up for it," he quickly replied, which got a smile from Charlie, who seemed a bit too tipsy.

"Okay, I'll call for a delivery," he said, then burped after his words. "Sorry…" he added.

"Don't worry about that," Vlad shot in. "It's still kinda early, just make the order. I'll take it."

"You sure?" Charlie asked.

"Yeah," Vlad turned to Bella. "I'll have company."

Charlie looked sceptical for some time, but the alcohol took its toll, causing a headache.

"Okay," he said, "I'll be in my room. Ask Bella to wake me up when you return."

Vlad only nodded his head, walked to the door, and gestured retreat.

Bella sighed, moved forward, and then walked out.

THUD!

The door shut.

And Vlad walked faster toward Bella, who seemed to be moving to her truck.

"What are you doing?" he asked. "We are not taking that," he said, smiling. He turned a finger in a different direction, one where his new bike was parked.

Bella raised a brow when she saw his gesture.

"But you only have one helmet," Her words were a mistake, because Vlad's expression had changed into some type of unspoken truth, one she was just about to find out.

"AHHHHHH!" Bella, someone who was usually quiet, screamed at the top of her lungs as her figure sliced through the air because of the speed the bike, which was being driven by Vlad, was moving at.

He made no effort to stop or slow down; he just zipped through cars like they were holograms, passing through them as if he were playing a video game.

Maybe he was. Maybe that was what everything seemed to him.

He was immortal, so what was different between him and a character in a game that shared the same fate?

Bella's arms were tightly glued to him as he sped. And in minutes, they arrived.

RAYS PIZZA SPOT.

Not famous, just a normal pizza place that promised an experience all pizza places promise.

The best…

"Okay, I stopped." Vlad nearly laughed as he noted how Bella still held on. "I stopped," he said again, giggling.

She raised her head off his back, frowned after noting his expression, got off, and started moving to the store.

"Come on," he said, "it wasn't that bad."

He could only giggle while following her from behind.

That was until a black 'too clean to be real' Porsche, bright orange, standing out when compared to everything, drove toward them.

Vlad instantly knew who it was.

And his words, he could only say one, a word that later formed into a sentence.

"Fuck," he said. "Fuck me."
