"Edward?" Bella whispered, eyes raised in disbelief as she noticed Edward seated in the passenger seat.

The car was parked on the side, not far from the road, but only its driver's door was flung open.

She was rather short, a pale beauty. She was smiling for some unknown reason, and Bella couldn't help but feel slightly drawn to her open, almost childlike demeanour.

She leaned on her car, folded her arms, and then turned her eyes to Vlad, smiling.

"Go inside," Vlad whispered, "I'll follow after you."

Nani?!

Bella's eyes widened in confusion as she saw Vlad shamelessly walk away.

She hesitated, took a last glance at Edward, who also glanced back, then walked to the building.

"So, that's why you didn't wanna hang out," Alice pouted, her eyes moving to Vlad, who was walking closer.

"Had to give some emotional support," he replied, "you know how it goes when it's that time of the month," and Alice giggled at his words. "So tell me," he continued, "what brings you to RAYS PIZZA?" He changed his posture to mimic the figure placed on top of the building's roof. "I mean, it's not like you guys eat."

He noted a reaction from Edward, who was seated on the far opposite side. It was slight, but he saw how he frowned at his words.

"We were just passing by after you ditched me," Alice admitted. "Fate took its course and…" she smiled. But the last word of her sentence made Vlad slightly shiver; she noticed.

"So… see you at school?" she asked, nearing her car and opening its doors.

"Yeah…" he awkwardly replied.

She closed the door, started the engine, and then swiftly drove away.

She stared at Vlad, who was scratching the back of his head in confusion, through her rearview mirror.

"You are taking too much time," Edward whispered from the side. "You know why we came here."

She could only sigh at his words, descending the foot she was using for the pedal.

"I know."

Then they were gone.

Vlad just stared as the car vanished. Then in an instant, he turned his gaze in a far direction, one that was mostly obstructed by trees.

Someone was watching him.

"Vlad!" He turned his eyes to the building. "The boxes!" Bella shouted from the door, her arms holding three boxes of extra-large pizzas. They seemed heavy.

He laughed, ran toward her struggling figure, and then took two from her hands.

And as he stared back in the obstructed direction, the culprit was gone.

The feeling of being watched had now completely vanished. And the only smell that graced his nostrils was the scent of concentrated green moving leaves. Nothing but the usual.

********

"Okay, okay, this is good," Vlad admitted, his one hand effortlessly holding up an open box of extra-large pizza, while the other held an overgrown slice, its cheese continuously dripping, his mouth stationed below it as though he enjoyed all of its seeps.

"Stop doing that," Bella laughed as she witnessed the mess from his actions, "and yes, I told you so." She dropped into a chair, took a slice from the other box that was on her desk, then took a bite. Her eyes closed as its flavours embraced her tongue. "Are you gonna say something, or should I?" she said, her gaze now turned to Vlad, who was taking his fifth slice.

NANI?

He acted confused for a while, brows raised and everything.

But Bella wasn't a fool, and he saw no need to hide what was happening.

He sighed, placed the nearly finished box of pizza on the bed, then wiped his hands with the wipes that were near his left.

"Okay," he said, truly unaware of the questions his statement would bring. "She kissed me."

"She's not in her room," Rebecca said, her expression visibly worried. Jacob nearly bolted to the door, but Billy raised a hand before he could do it.

"Leah is not a child," he said, pushing his wheelchair closer to the table, "she will take care of herself."

Rebecca almost argued, but then realised that she was the one trusted to oversee Leah for the time Billy and Jacob would be gone. She had failed.

"Tea," Billy said, which got a nod from Rebecca, who walked to the kitchen, poured water into the kettle, then stepped outside to prepare some leaves.

"Did you really feel it?" Billy turned his eyes to Jacob, who immediately nodded after he spoke. He walked to the table, then pulled out a chair and took a seat. "Tell me."

"I felt hot and… angry," Jacob said, "but… It's gone now." Billy sighed, raised his arm, then held up his face.

"That's not supposed to happen," he said. "Once a shifter feels its heat, they aren't supposed to lose it."

Jacob frowned as he listened.

"And you say it started when…?" He shook his head. "It didn't even start in…"

Rebecca walked in through the door, went to the kitchen, placed the clean leaves inside the kettle made of stone, then approached their seated figures.

Her eyes couldn't help but frown when she noticed how the conversation stopped as soon as she entered.

She truly wanted to complain, but before the thought could even hope to settle, right when she was slightly bent, pouring the tea into Billy's cup.

The door flung open, and in walked a dirty, tattered Leah. Her clothes were in rags, and her hair clearly ruined.

"It's him!" she said. "He's the imprint."
