Marie's POV
I stood there frozen, no words able to come out of my lips, but after a few seconds, I was able to break out of the freeze.
I stared at the picture and then at the figure, which was yet to be seen, my heart drumming. I swallowed, trying to push down the lump in my throat, but it didn't budge.
"What are you doing here?" The voice was too familiar, and my body had begun to fidget in fear.
I couldn't speak, not even mumble a single word. I was worried and, at the same time, scared. I really couldn't tell what awaited me; all I knew was that I couldn't even attempt to move.
Suddenly, he came into view, his wicked eyes setting themselves on me. Currently, I couldn't breathe.
"What were you—" he trailed, pausing his steps when he noticed the photograph on the floor.
"Snooping around?" he asked, and then he shook his head. "I really don't want to be in your shoes."
